SpeedRacer 1 #1 June 13, 2003 ...The Unemployed Skydivers Association, that is! After being unemployed for about six months, I have finally received a job offer from someone with whom I had an interview a little over a week ago. I will be doing AIDS research at a lab at Fort Detrick. Just got the email today saying they're going to offer me the job, and that I should call them Monday to get the details. Only problem: The email did not mention what the salary would be!! I have to WAIT UNTIL MONDAY TO FIND OUT!! arrrruuuuuugh!!! (i'm worried about this b/c the guy hinted that they might not pay as well as the last place I worked...and I was definitely NOT being overpaid there)....I'm praying they don't lowball me too much...my unemployment benefits have about run out & I have no other serious job prospects at this time. wmw999 2,593 #3 June 13, 2003 Coolio. Doin' the "good pay" dance -- either way, doing the "congrats on the job?" dance Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
SpeedRacer 1 #4 June 13, 2003 Fort Detrick is in Frederick, MD. Right near the pond where the terrorists packaged the Anthrax. Fort Detrick is home to United States Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (MRMC), and the National Cancer Institute (NCI-Frederick). My job will be with NCI. When you drive in there you gotta show ID to armed guards & have your car searched. katiebear21 0 #9 June 14, 2003 Ft. Detrick is a quiet little place and that part of Maryland is beautiful! Good luck on the interview and follow your own advice: watch out for the latex gloves! Katie Get your PMS glass necklace here
SpeedRacer 1 #10 June 16, 2003 I'm supposed to call them "after lunch" today to discuss the offer. Bleeaurgh...I hate this shit. I wish it was all over. (But with a paycheck I can get back up in the sky again. I hope that "sun" thing comes out this week.) SpeedRacer 1 #12 June 16, 2003 Yeah I know all about Fredneck. I've been living here for a year, less than 2 miles from Ft Detrick so it won't be much of a commute. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------

jfields 0 #16 June 16, 2003 Congrats on the job, SpeedRacer! Now you can respond to your private messages and say you'll go on the Frederick Brewery tour I mentioned to you. And if you feel the urge, that would be a perfect time to buy your case of beer!
 ladyskydiver 0 #17 June 16, 2003 Congrats!Life is short!
