chachi 0 #1 June 18, 2003 So I downloaded Kazaa Lite and Limewire. Now I have these stupid messenger windows even though my spybot software says I have no spyware. Anyone know a great program to get rid of these or are they sending them to me and I need a firewall. Also I put Kazaa in the wrong directory and whn I went to remove it to reinstall it to the proper directory it says there are components that I can't remove, anyone know how to delete these? Thanks in advance. ~Chachi

CrazyIvan 0 #4 June 18, 2003 If you UNINSTALLED the software and you get the CAN'T REMOVE certain components, what you have to do is REBOOT and then go to the location where you installed the software and delete the folder. Try a different software, such as WinMX__________________________________________ Blue Skies and May the Force be with you.

dterrick 0 #6 June 18, 2003 re the messenger windows: you are running XP right? Follow the clickys : start control panel performance and maintenance administrative tools services While at 'services' double click on 'MESSENGER'. Set startup type to 'DISABLED', then click 'apply' and 'OK'. No more "windows messenger alert" ads that tell you, for a small fee, how to get rid of the very ads they are sending you . I've run this config for about a month thanks to Peter Rodriguez (DZ.com 'Magistr8') and nothing bad has happened or quit working. the rest of the popup ads can be killed by background running a program called popupkiller . http://software.xfx.net/utilities/popupkiller/index.php Works for me Dave Life is very short and there's no time for fussing and fighting my friend (Lennon/McCartney)
LouDiamond 1 #7 June 18, 2003 You have to turn the messanger feature off in windows if your getting the actual messenger boxes poping up. Go to the start button then to settings, then control panel then to Admin tools and then Services. Scroll down until you find messenger and then choose to turn it off. POP up boxes shouldstop"It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
