Dammit brain...shut up!!!

Recommended Posts

Why am I letting my brain analyze and overanalyze what happened during my first attempt at C-1? Why can't I focus on the fact that I jumped right back on the horse and then passed C-1. Maybe it's because I think I still have a minor concussion from my hard landing, my ankle is swollen and sore and so is the rest of my body. I feel like shit.

Or maybe it's because I just had words with my boss at work. I'm in sales and am paid base plus commissions. Well the fuckin company keeps changing the commission structure and I am watching my salary go down and down. The kicker is, I am surpassing all my sales goals for the fiscal year! In fact I am presently the #1 sales manager, but I am estimating that I will gross approximately 5 grand less than last year!!! WTF is that???

Just venting I guess. What a bad Monday.>:(

Hehehe, I thought you were bitching about the DZ.commer Brain.

As for failing a level, FIDO!

Fuck It Drive On.

It happens, don't worry about it, go on with your progression ignoring that fact. You know why? If you continue to worry about it, it'll hurt your performance in the rest of your progression.

As for your physical pain, may I suggest relaxing tonight, doing nothing, just vegging on the sofa. Order a pizza, drink a couple of beers and let your body reset.

If you think you really did do damage to your ankle or noggin, then see a doc today or tomorrow, though.

I am the QUEEN of overanalyzing things, Muenkel. It's because we are perfectionists. Trust me, I was warned that perfectionists have the most difficult time learning to skydive. It's true. I also did not pass every level easily. I am embarrassed to have written that, but don't you feel better now?

I wasn't ever spinning uncontrollably by myself, but I lost one of my instructors one AFF2. This left me a little freaked and disoriented when I should have just proceeded, even though things weren't "perfect". Trust me, there are PLENTY of people here who have failed levels. LOL! They need to come out of their hiding place and share with you.

I thank you for the sweet pm. Now, it's my turn to be there for you. Maybe just try to just let it go for a little while, Muenkel. You truly did an awesome job when you passed the 2nd time! Please do not focus on the negative. There will be many more bad AND GOOD jumps! It is all part of this shared experience that we love...

In many words - f&*k people who manage sales folks because in my experience, they do you from the backside any chance they get. Probably should get used to that.

BUT

Don't ever stress out about a failed jump - you landed and are still alive and can only improve!

Good luck!!!!

Hello? Did our conversation mean that little to you? [sniff]
Did our over an hour talk about that jump just get let go as so much hot air? [sob]

LOL at you, Chris. Look, people are still talking about what happened to them 300 jumps ago...it's alright, you've learned, you've added to your bag of experience.

Remember what we decided? There was at least 2 times the amount of things which went right than went wrong...remember? 10 things right, 5 things not right (not failed...just not right)...

So you, now, write out what went RIGHT...post them up here so we can all congratulate you.

And then, like Dave said, FIDO.

And hugs! I understand!

Michele

What Michele said!!! Amen sistah, preach on!
Chris, you're doing well-- remember what one of your JMs said when you asked if you'd be a good skydiver? He said no, you were going to be a GREAT skydiver!!! And I agree with him. How can you NOT be? It's in your blood!

Don't let old smoky get the better of you... keep the faith man.

Our conversation meant everything. You did good, my Yoda!

It's just two worlds were crashing today. The shit at work and the stupid dwelling on THAT jump. I'll say this though, I've made 4 jumps so far in AFF. 3 were excellent and 1 was not so excellent.

I'll be alright, in fact I KNOW I will be alright.

VanillaSkyGirl, thanks.:)

At the DZ I trained at, 95% of AFF students fail at least one level. The DZO (before he died) was a perfectionist and demanded high performance from his students. I failed level 3 twice. I don't see it as failure - it was kind of expected.

Since then, I've been to other DZs where most students pass without failing once. I'm not convinced they are better students.

And you know what the worst thing about repeating a level is? Ya gotta go and do another skydive! What a pain in the ass, to have to do another one...;):P
