AggieDave 6 #1 June 25, 2003 Finished the latest Harry Potter book about a half hour ago. What a good read! No, I'm not going to post any spoilers, but it definately had a good story, these next books are going to be very interesting to say the least!--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." tbrown 26 #2 June 25, 2003 You must feel like a kid waking up the day after Christmas. I'm trying to hold it to one or two chapters a day, just got through Ch 4 so far. Just from the little I've read, it's head and shoulders above the rest and well worth a 3 year wait. So how many teams will there be this year with names like Dementors, Gryffindor, Hogwarts, Aurors, etc. ? Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity ! AggieDave 6 #3 June 25, 2003 Yeah, I think I should have made myself stay to just a couple chapters a day, but I couldn't help myself. I read it in under 24hrs (no I didn't read straight through). Death Eaters would be an interesting name for a FF team...--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

jimmytavino 16 #6 June 25, 2003 .... wow... "Literate Skydivers"....how refreshing. My 18 yr.old son was at Barnes & Noble at midnight to pick up his order.... Really good series of books... I have enjoyed each volume.... I really liked # 3 ... the twists and turns, and interwoven story lines are great.... I have only read the first chapter of, Order of the Phoenix..... and so I will read some more this week....before I get a "Howler" from AggieDave........ thanks for the encouraging review... jmy skydive with your friends , skydive with enthusiasm skydive with discipline
 vt1977 0 #7 June 25, 2003 I've just finished it too. It was excellent and very well written but I thought that the ending was a little bit bland compared to the last book. Still a fantastic read though, and I am looking forward to book 6... Is it just me, or are the storylines becoming more and more sinister? I think if I had read book 5 when I was a kid I would have had nightmares! Vicki I haven't read Book 5 yet, but I'll give you my thoughts on the darkening of the stories: I would expect it -- both Harry and his opponent are growing stonger, hence the danger level is increased. I expect Book 7 to be not all that pleasent a read; you do know that Ms. Rowling has already written the final chapter, right? Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them? I agree - the innocent Harry, with no knowledge of his background or the wizarding world who we nmeet at the start of book one grows up very quickly. It is a loss of innocence, but with each book we also see him grow in knowledge and strength. Increased danger and loss of innocence = some quite dark/sinister storylines. QuoteI expect Book 7 to be not all that pleasent a read; you do know that Ms. Rowling has already written the final chapter, right? There was a fascinating interview with J K Rowling shown on BBC2 last week - I don't know if it has been shown outside of the UK or not. She said that she expects book 6 to be pretty short and that she will tie up all the clues that she has been leaving throughout the series in book 7. And yes! She also said that she has written the final chapter of book 7. They also showed (but obviously from a good distance) the piece of paper in which she had planned out her story and chapter plans for each book. I bet a few people would like to get their hands on that...! Vicki
 AggieDave 6 #12 June 25, 2003 Well, if its going to be pretty short, I hope she doesn't make us wait a long-ass time to get it. I'm wondering if there's going to be any spin-off books, maybe if Harry becomes an Auror some stories about that once he's out of school...you know, stuff like that.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." They asked her about that in the interview and she said that after the 7th book there would be no more. The interviewer pressed her on it and said that he thought people would like to know what happened to Harry after he left school. Her comment on this was something along the lines of, "Who says he'll still be alive then?". I *think* she was just saying that because she laughed afterwards, but who knows???
