Chicago to Dallas and DZs?

Recommended Posts

Curious - I may end up making a trip down to Texas before the end of the summer, and want to make it as affordable as possible. Since I would be driving, anyone know off hand which DZs would be the best to bunk at along the way, or which ones I should visit?

If you come down 35 for another 3 hours from Dallas, you can see us at Skydive San Marcos. ;)

I have a few friends in Texas....I think I would end up seeing a few DZs down there. Houston, Dallas, San Maros, Spaceland....did I miss any? :)

You know, if you can make it 3hrs south of Dallas, Skydive Aggieland IS the place to be! And visiting DZ.commers ALWAYS have a place to stay at my house.

If you can make it in September, the AOT boogie is going to kick ass (again)!

Skydive Dallas (50 miles NE of Dallas near Whitewright) has some nice bunks.

Further south, Skydive Houston (40 miles NW of Houston near Waller) allows use to crash out in the airconditioned clubhouse. (that's home DZ for me). And there's a pool and a really nice Otter.

Skdive Spaceland, (30 miles South of Houston) is a nice DZ but not sure if there's a place to crash unless you bring your own.

Further west, Skydive Aggieland is near College Station, AggieDave is the authority there.

Skydive San Marcus also has overnight accomodations.

Those are the ones I'm most knowlegable, (or not), about. I'm sure someone else will fill in the blanks.

Come on out to Skydive Houston and say "Howdy".

Thanks - that is a huge help!

Now, I will have to decide if I want to make it all in one drive (16-17hours) or stop somewhere (another DZ or truckstop) in Missouri or Kansas - could even divert to Arkansas if needed. I've made it as far as Atlanta without stopping to take a rest, so I guess I could make it to Texas.

Skydive San Marcos has a bunkroom, and people sleep in the indoor packing area sometimes too. If you bring an air mattress, I might even drunkenly crawl into it and fall asleep. Don't worry though; I won't be there all night. I sleepwalk.
Skydiving is for cool people only
