2fat2fly 0 #1 June 27, 2003 http://www.greenvilleonline.com/news/2003/06/26/200306269083.htm The news story is on the retirement of the first black state trooper to work in my part of SC. I had the chance to meet him once-a really class act. The important part is his last quote in the article. Anyone who has worked in public service will see the truth in it....and I, on my part, was a little embarrassed that I haven't always acted this way. And ain't I just the little clicky machine today
jtval 0 #2 June 27, 2003 QuoteA tall man, Williford said he was encouraged to become a trooper by another trooper. He said he had been contemplating applying. Well after the Anderson native started, he said he received considerable on-the-job-support from Israel Brooks, the first black trooper, who was hired in 1967. so WHO was the 1st black trooper? willford or Brooks? It may just be the fact that I am exhausted but this doesnt make sense! anyway I like how the title states... Quote First black trooper in Upstate calling it quits after 30 years makes it sound like he gave up!My photos My Videos
sunnydee123 0 #3 June 27, 2003 No it doesn't...you must be sleepy. It's all in how you read it...."calls it quits AFTER 30 YEARS.." - emphasis on 30 years. Great quote by the way...makes ya think. Do I treat everyone right? Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...
jtval 0 #4 June 27, 2003 all I know if I served 30 years doing anything I would hope they could make it sound a little more respectful hell even "...retires after 30 years " would be better. I dunno I have done ANYTHING for 30 years, not even live!(but im close) OK I re-read it. Willford is the 1st trooper in the UPSTATE area...etc! even though Im tired I still think its S.C. 's wording that made me confused! LOLMy photos My Videos
