skybytch 273 #1 June 27, 2003 Getting to the dz by 8am wasn't so hard this morning, even after a month of getting out of bed whenever I want to. It was a beautiful morning; I left the house at 7:30 am wearing shorts. Got to the dz, saw lots of people I hadn't seen for awhile (and a lot more Perris and Elsinore regulars). After registering all of us Kate, Tony and Dan talked to us about the camp, then broke us into three groups - 2 30 ways and a 20 way. I was on the 20 way with Tony all day. I got to go 16th out of 20 on all 5 jumps. I don't get to go that late, ever. Now I know why - it's so damn fun to go late and dive hard that all the really good people make sure they're in those slots. We didn't complete one point on any of them, but completions aren't the point of this camp. The point is to challenge yourself, try new stuff, and do it in a no-pressure, it's okay to screw up atmosphere. The exit on the fourth jump was interesting for me. One second I was shuffling to the door, next thing I knew I was on my hands and knees in the doorway with four other jumpers exiting next to and over me. After I knew they were clear I took a second to be sure everything still worked, then dove my ass out the door. I made it to the formation (into video frame) before breakoff. Don't think I've ever dived that far or that fast. Landed from that one, took my jumpsuit off and saw that both knees had already started swelling. Didn't stop me from doing the fifth dive though. They still bend without too much pain, but I can pretty much guarantee that I won't be spending ANY time on them for the next week or two. All in all, a great day! Even had a surprise visit by a couple of roaming dz.commers; was great to see you guys again Cajones and Lew! Okay, now I'm tired and my knees hurt. Off to bed with me. vt1977 0 #3 June 27, 2003 Say hello to my friend Ruth who is on the big way camp with you! I hope the bruising is better - I always keep arnica (cream and pills) in my gear bag and find that the earlier I put it on the better. Why does that damn door hurt so much?! Already got the bruises... already done 10 way for a few weekends... already LOVE the 10 way no grip, no show exit. Even had an invite on a 10 way team for the 2000 Nationals, but my back went out about then, dammit. I wanna do ten way......

skybytch 273 #13 June 28, 2003 QuoteRumble Seat rules are the true way to do 10 way. Those are the rules I learned - I do jump in southern California after all. For those who don't know, Rumbleseat rules are single file, no grip or hold, no show lineup; first one out the door is base, second one out the door is pin and those two must be together before any of the other 8 can dock.
