Day 3 -or- Da Base!

Recommended Posts

Five 42 ways with Dan and Kate today. My slot was right next to Dan in the base. Fun stuff!

Chunking out of the Skyvan is cool! We pulled a 6 way stairstep (I think) and transitioned that to a round. First one we let turn and had to bring it back onto aircraft heading, which confused everyone else on the dive. The second one was beautiful; perfect exit, perfect heading, perfect transition - we owned that exit.

Third one we funneled. It was a great exit, but we didn't quite make the transition to the round. In the video debrief we had to promise everyone that we'd take a perfect 6 way out the door on the next jump. So on the fourth one we were scared ;). Let that one turn off heading also but we put it back pretty quick.

Before the last jump, Dan took us aside and we worked on it again. By this point it wasn't our physical flying that needed work, it was our heads. He told us to own it; to put all our energy into keeping it on heading and not to worry about the transition because the grips would be there.

Have I mentioned that Dan's an awesome coach? Of course we went up and nailed the exit.

I had to wear 11 pounds of lead and my fastest suit to comfortably stay with Dan. My ProTrack (on TAS) says we averaged 118 mph on both the first and second jumps (I haven't looked at the other three yet...). Wearing weight sucks; after five jumps my back is killing me and I'm more tired than I was after 6 yesterday. Worth it though; my back would hurt more and I wouldn't have flown as well if I hadn't worn them.

Tomorrow is four 80+ ways. From 16,500. With oxygen. B|

oh yeah, I stood up 4 of 5 today - that makes it 14 standups out of my last 16 jumps. I think Jimbo's right... I'm ready for the Velocity 79 now. :D

Pretty fun stuff, huh! B|

Try my slot (with 12#of lead), docking behind Dan B.C. and taking Kate's grip on my right! Talk about pressure to perform....geeze....
however, it was the best skydives yet with that increased level of push.

Gotta say, Kate, Dan and Tony are an awesome team!

Oh, and btw, thanks bytch for wearing your pink suit! Lead the way right to my quadrant each and every time! :)

Yeah! That's what is so cool about this camp. Instead of only getting to do a short dive or a short float (which are what I've done most of), I've also gotten to be a late diver and in the base.

Real curious to see what slots they put us in for the 80 ways today... they said yesterday that it may not be a slot that we were 100% confident with when we arrived Thursday morning but it will be a slot that, after watching and coaching us for three days, they know we can do.

Thanks for the updates. I have called my friends that are out there doing the camp, and they too are having a great time.

I only wear my pink suit if I'm in the base, or super floating. Other than that, I don't want to get noticed.
