I myself believe a good soul and treating others well thoughout life is a valid ticket to forstalling all those regrets in later life.

Thanks, Amazon.

As a young woman, she was beautiful - impossibly high cheekbones, strong jawline, dreamy eyes speaking of a passion to taste what the world had to offer. In some moments she possessed and "otherworldliness", in others a playfulness which was infectious. And at all times, she was herself.

As an old woman, she possessed a serene beauty that can only come with time; a maturity, a wisdom, experiences encountered etched on her face - and still the passion showed; still the dreamy, faraway expression which spoke of "forever" in her eyes...a life lived well and fully.

cutie??

You know what, JT? You're right. "Cutie" is not a way I would describe her.

Elegant. Classic. Handsome. Gorgeous. Talented. Beautiful. Strong. Brilliant. Graceful.

Those are better words.

Agreed Michele and Muenkel -

I am a black and white old movie fanatic. Look who's coming to Dinner shocked everyone back in the day. Indeed, it is controversial still even now in some parts of the US. Baby where she had a tiger living with her was outrageously funny as she tried to hide it.

She blazed trails for many who we respect today for their outspoken views. We dont have to agree, of course, yet she always said what she thought. And she rarely did interviews, I only remember one, she did late in life. She was straight forward on every question.

People who say what they think today, Cher and Madonna, for two examples. Yet Kate Hepburn never reinvented herself every year to get ahead of trends or market herself. Not saying that is a bad thing, it is just something she did not do. She was who she was and that was it.

I admired her.

Perhaps you are reading way too much into it JT.. It aint a flame darlin its just an opinion. Its not judgmental to state what MY opinion is of a statement made perhaps in haste. BUT if you judge people based solely on appearances ( as do FAR too many people) rather than their whole being then you are guilty of being shallow. The point is... think carefully what you say and do in life. Sometimes those actions will come back to haunt you. Again. just a perspective that eludes far to many people.

So.. please.... continue to be a nice guy.. because there are on average FAR too many guys who are too shallow and only look at women for appearances and are NOT nice guys.

And you might want to take a look at the picture that was linked to earlier in another post

That is a picture of a beautiful happy woman who lived a very very full life.

Judging others based on age or cuteness will come back to haunt you.

I take that as a personal attack! with in the text of your reply it seems very much an attack.
so if at anytime you thought I was JUDGING on AGE or CUTENESS maybe you too should not jump to conclusions!

maybe Im wrong for stating my opinion(apparently, most of you think I am)
but I will not pretend that I think she is something other then an old women to me.
my initial post was a general post to a reaction to a celebrity death whom I have no emotional ties to!
I left this post alone until that reply due to the fact that this IS a mourning post not one to discuss this crap!

JT,

I agree with you, but I still do not know what is the Fuzz about how great a person was, if the only merit she has is to have a career in Hollywood.....

Not meant to disrespect anyone. But we all do have our opinions......?

yes, we are all entitled to our opinions...

One of the most wonderful things about her was her ability to put aside the fuss and attention, and be herself, totally and truly. She was honest to her life, her heart, and her world...frank and clear about what was important (not her celebrity status - she called that the "custard pie", not the meal). If you haven't watched her move through a man's world as her own person - with all facets of self showing - then you wouldn't understand why I admire her as much as I do.

I grew up in the Hollywood world - the superficiality, the egos, the arrogance...and because of that, I do not hesitate to acknowledge one outside that realm yet in it, balanced and serene, doing as she chose...contrary to most, constant to herself and her beliefs.

All I know about her is that she made some movies, got 4 Oscars, and led a long long affair with Spencer Tracy, who was married to someone else with a couple kids. She saw nothing wrong with the last aspect of her relationship with him, since she never intended to "break them up."

I guess, "Whatevah, I do what I want!" is not as new as we would like to think...

Is adultery considered sodomy?
