Muenkel 0 #1 June 29, 2003 Well once again Mother Nature smiled on New England. An absolutely perfect day. Level 4, 1 JM, my TLO's were simply to maintain stability without the JM's help. Well I did it! Each time I started to turn or drift, I corrected it. My JM never had to dock with me. Pulled on time, nice canopy flight but I am still flaring too early. Luckily I didn't fall backwards and did a nice PLF. Cleared for Level 5. Level 5, not so good but not horrible. My TLO's were to do a few 90 degree turns, a 180 turn with a couple of tracking docks with my JM. Well, I did none of these. Had problems with instability and despite the many toe taps, the problem was really in my upper body. At one point the JM docked with me to stop a spin. Good alti awareness and pulled on time. Good canopy flight with minimum radio assistance. But once again, I flaired too early and did a hard PLF. Many bruises and soreness have resulted. In de-brief, my JM assured me it was not a bad jump but due to my lack of demonstrating my TLO's, I have to repeat. He did suggest to me that if there was any way I could get myself to Orlando and do some tunnel training, he is convinced that I can solve my biggest challenges with the stability. So I will be in Orlando for the July 4th weekend from early Friday morning until late Monday night. My original tandem master from Titusville, whom I really trust is now AFF rated and is a coach at Skyventure. I spoke with him today and he will coach me in the tunnel. I have everything written in my log book, so he will cocentrate on where my weaknesses lie. He is very confident I can get past this challenge. I'm taking Sunday off, because I am quite sore and I want to wait until I complete the tunnel training. On a side note, my JM did assure me that I am progressing normally and should have no reason to believe that I cannot master this. I still love this sport. Thanks for all the good vibes folks. I'm not giving up! Chris _________________________________________ Chris

I'm glad I did cause now my turns are great!!!!! You'll get there, but just remember that NOW it 's a great time to fuck up. Video of your fuk ups is also very helpful. I'm getting ready for 6 and I'm feeling very good about it now. Two weeks ago I was dreading it. I'm much more confident in myself now than i was then.. and that makes a huge difference in your performance too ( at least for me) BTW I did some tunnel time in Vegas... It was great fun but I sucked at it. Nevertheless it was extremly helpful when I got back in the air! Good luck Hope you don't get Banned! I don't expect that to happen this time, as I have more experience and my shoulder is feeling fine. But seriously, the tunnel training will help exponentially with my training. I really need to get past this obstacle. Chris _________________________________________ Chris
 HeatherB 0 #7 June 29, 2003 You can do it!! There are lots of people who have problems during AFF but then they go to the tunnel and come back and kick ass on the rest of their levels. So don't get discouraged. The tunnel is awesome, you'll love it! I was there last night. We did 7-8pm but we stayed later. We couldn't resist taking the open half hour from 1:30-2am. We were tired but happy puppies Bring some aleve or tylenol if you are doing a bunch of minutes, you might get a little sore.
