How do tracking comps/money meets work?

Recommended Posts

There is a tracking money meet this weekend and I'm considering signing up for it but I have no clue how it works though. Can anybody clue me in as far as how they judge distance? Do you do a solo or like a race etc...? Thanks and FYI...I have an A license w/ 71 jumps.

From my experience, they watch from the ground, and have a pre-determined minimum altitude. so for instance, you have to be open by 2000' and then they verify this with a judge who opens at 2000' and anyone below them is disqualified. Sometimes they use birdmen to verify distance from the sky.
