wmw999 2,560 #1 July 2, 2003 My son is 19; well on his way to being a grownup in the vast majority of ways. Part 2 of this is that the MR2 that he sent off to Chicago for the engine rebuild from hell (it went to Chicago in December) finally came back on Friday (yahoo). It needed a brake job, which was OK -- he did one in my garage on Saturday, with the neighbor's 12-year-old son to help. Afterwards, as they sat around and shared a cold root beer, he imparted half the wisdom his rolling eyes made me think he'd ignored over the years. "No job is beneath you, Zac. Anyone who says they're above McDonalds is full of it" said very solemnly. "Middle school sucks, but it gets better in high school, and even better in college" "Tattoos and piercings are OK, but you have to consider what kind of job you want to get if you get a really visible one -- some places just aren't as likely to hire you" I did good. I kept a straight face the whole time. I never ever said "I told you so." And I loved every single second in a loving, maternal way, too. It really warmed my heart. Oh well I guess he takes after the other side of his genes more. Amazon

Remster 30 #6 July 2, 2003 You knos what they say... the apple never falls far from the tree. Except if the tree in on the side of a hill. Or if someone picks up the apple. Or if the tree gets transplanted far away. But I digress...Remster

It really warmed my heart. Not sure I could have kept a straight face. Congrats to you, sounds like at least some of the things you tried to teach him have sunk in.
