Very true. We just lost a local police officer this weekend. They had just robbed an IHOP and he pulled them over on an unrelated traffic incident. The kid who had assaulted a police officer once before pulled his gun.... they both fired, both dead. The officer leaves behind a wife and a 9 month old son. :( Also lost within the past couple weeks....... a VA state trooper and his nine year old son...hit by a drunk driver.:(:(:( I keep these men and women who protect and serve in my prayers daily.

In Riverside county, CA, yesterday, an officer was shot in the leg during a routine traffic stop. He was shot with a cross-bow; the arrow fractured his leg.

He pulled the arrow from his leg, shoo'd the ladies on their way, and, after a house-to-house search by every officer in the area, arrested a 42 year old man.

Thanks, to all law enforcement officers. You are always in my prayers, and I thank all of you for doing what you do.

Michele

My prayers are for both the trooper, who must really be going through hell right now and also the one that was killed. He's a human being too, who unfortunately made a bad decision.

It seems to me the person who was subjected to the "routine traffic stop" is more in need of prayers (from those who believe in such things) and that he was the one who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Maybe the cop should have taken a cue from SadSue and tried to wrestle the gun away from him instead. :(

Yep, and also he could have been a little more careful and check what was on the guy's hand before deciding to shoot....
