Steel 0 #101 July 2, 2003 That is after they tried to redefine the term. Find yourself a dictionary before 1990. In anycase as you see the number one definition is still the original one having to do with Spain. They have just tried to broaden it and I resent that. I will accept that when the broaden Anglican to include the Bahamas, Jamaica and all the British Islands in the west Indies that are 90% black or when the create a term linking the French to Haiti. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Rebecca 0 #102 July 2, 2003 Vielen Dank, Ferdi! Wie hast du dass gemacht? Sieht es besser aus? you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?
PhillyKev 0 #103 July 2, 2003 You might want to look at who's defining the term. http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=hispanic
FliegendeWolf 0 #104 July 2, 2003 QuoteThat is after they tried to redefine the term. They did this? My word, they must be stopped. Did you know that they're responsible for every awful thing that's ever happened? I've read many of your posts, Steel, and I've found that you walk into debates with your ideas firmly planted and you continue to fervently argue for them against all available evidence. Would you take seriously a man on a street corner at high noon on a crystal clear day heatedly arguing with you that the sun exploded the night before?A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
Steel 0 #105 July 2, 2003 Ok to make this simple if you take a trip to Miami or Union City, NJ where the REAL hispanics are, the ones who fit the definition today, just like they did 10 years ago just like they did 50 years ago, then you will find that the majority of them hate that word. That is right, the majority of Cubans hate that word. We do not consider ourselves any more of a minority than the Norwegians consider themselves. And the last thing we need is for our accomplishments to be linked to Mexican failures. We don't need affirmative action we don't want affirmative action. We vote 87% Republican, Enough said.If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read. And as for the hispanics, Oh pal, you might as well figure that the people that speak spanish are not all from Mexico....and that there are also more indians way down to Peru, the Incas, as well as in the amazons, which by the way, they are the trully most original race still pretty intact.
