ChasingBlueSky 0 #1 July 3, 2003 Watching CNN right now - outside of LaGuardia Airport - they are reporting they found "one firearm" in a rental car, and are now looking for explosives. Guess someone called the cops and said there was a "susupicious vehical." Edit to add: The car was across the street from the rental place. Cops now saying there was "an unusual device" in the car. For those in NY - CNN is saying this is on 95th and Bitmore(sp?) Why do I have a feeling this is going to happen a few more times this holiday weekend? They mentioned they still saw airplane movement....so hopefully not affecting travel. Michele 1 #4 July 3, 2003 The car is now currently located in the National car lot. Airport has not been affected. Getting to the airport is difficult, but according to the airport authority, the planes are taking off and landing normally. Per NYPD, only one firearm found, and is not attached to the device. Car is 2 weeks overdue (rental return). It was located, had many tickets, somewhere in Queens. National representatives brought it back to the car lot, and began inventory. Found some items (weapon, suspicious package/device). Bomb squad is there, cordoned off area. "Does appear to rule out terrorism" because of the length of time it had been sitting there in Queens.
