T3 Rise of Machines

Haven't seen T3 yet, but saw '28 days later' in November last year (dunno why they took so long to release it on big screen in states). It starts out quite well, but unfortunately turns shit after that.

Something that really annoyed me in 28 days was the VERY blatant product placement. I remember one part in the movie where someone says 'I couldn't eat another thing', someone then replies 'But I could eat another Terry's Chocolate Orange'. It was so OTT it was almost funny.

I could see though how the gore value would appeal to American pro-wrestling fans. ;)

Then wait till you see the prod placement in T3! It isn't even subtle! HUGE semi truck with the add on the side of it, and that truck is involved in one of the stunts.

I do have to admit - prob the best integrated CGI in a movie in a very long time.

Better than Gollum/Smeagol?

I saw T3 last night. Overall I wasn't that impressed. I'd rank it in the middle of the pack of "mainstream" shoot-em-ups.

Dave, Gollum is in another category. Far beyond CGI used for stunts, etc. Only Gollum in RoTK will beat out TTT.

The worst special effect in T3 was the leather jacket ...if you see the movie, you will understand. It looks like liquid....they still can't figure out dynamic realtime lighting that will absorb light, reflect, and cast shadows all at the same time (esp if the lightsource is dynamic).

It it usually conceded that it's far easier to create fantasy characters than realistic humans.

No person really "knows" what Gollum would look like or how exactly he would move and that look and movement doesn't have to match the real "Gollum" in the next shot. Modified motion capture works just fine -- especially if the character is supposed to be a little jerky in his movements anyway.

However, since birth we all pretty much know what looks "right" when we see a human move. Generally speaking, motion capture can get the general idea across, but it loses a bit of nuance.

Beyond that is the issue of trying to match the modeling and lighting aspects and again things get very close, but again loses something of the nuance.

Look at any of the Pixar stuff. People totally buy into the look and movement of the 7 foot tall blue and green furry monsters because they have nothing to compare it with, but it's the very subtle stuff in the humans that's really tricky -- and those are cartoonish humans at that.

Amp that up to what they're trying to do with Matrix and T3 . . . and it's a nearly impossible task. I think T3 comes a bit closer. Certainly the female terminator with hair and very textured leather/fabric is a hell of a lot more difficult than say . . . 100 Agent Smiths dressed in non-textured black.

Went to see T-3, should have seen 28 days later. It was OK but not what I would call a "GOOD MOVIE". Rental at best. Saw some great adds for some GREAT movies coming out though. Oh well, I always have BEER. Happy 4th of July. Be safe.

THATS GONNA BE A KEEPER!;)

NOT.. What a waste of movie time.... :P If you are a slasher fan, then go and see it. Other wise, forget it.... There was one about a horse and rider but I forget the name. It gave me chills during the preview. Must see.

i'm sorry, but T3 was a big piece of steaming crap. as an action movie, it may have been worth a rental once on video, but as a part of the terminator franchise, it is held to a higher standard.....

i dont wanna vent too much cuz i'll give shit away, but i hate how they pretty much blew off the first 2 movies and everything that happened, how the t-1000 from T2 is still a more menacing machine than the t-x, and how sarah connor is very badly missed.

if someone wants to start a rant thread, where spoilers are allowed, i'll vent there....but damn, i was dissapointed.

True, John was kinda 'soft', I was hoping Sarah would pop up from somewhere and kick some serious ass, even bitch-slap the T-X.

Mmmmmm....a cat fight would be nice. :)

I definitely will be going to see this one again. I don't want to say anything more as to not spoil it, but I absolutely loved it. I thought it was a great addition to the Terminator series. But I could have done without all the jokes.
