I call the DZ when I think there might be bad weather. If they say the weather is bad I go anyway, but I bring a movie to watch or something

Depends on the DZ. Many will say "It's clearing. We're getting ready to send the load up now!" which may be literally true, but is it clearing enough? Is the load really going to go?
OTOH, some will tell you that it's really iffy, and there's nobody here to play with anyway.

I think we had some people bag out of coming to our fourth of july boogie because of what they saw on the weather channel or weather.com. In the end, they were all wrong and we jumped our asses off for four straight days.

No doubt.......that happened to me once. I was looking at 200Ft ceilings and rain for several hours standing at one DZ. Called SD Atlanta and they were on their 8th Otter load. I made it for sunset load....
