If there was no risk, would you still skydive ??

Recommended Posts

I dont feel a rush by skydiving. i dont considder it as a dangerus sport when i compare to other sports.I still skydive and i do it becourse i think its fun.Nothing else.
If thouse people im surounded not would be my freind becourse i stopped skydiving, then they wouldnt be real freinds.

I BASE becours of the rush, the mental batel i have each time, i guess i like to scare myself abit:ph34r::Dohh and if there werent no rush by BASE jumping..uhhh then i would dieB|;)

I think that Rush is a personal thing.by more used to a thing, more confident/less rush you get..How ever, i migt get a rush by skydiving,i just dont realice it much;)

"Hey, no risk would mean no worries about wind speeds, cloud clearance, extra equipment (y'know, AAD, audible, reserve), maintainence..."

No risk would mean no downsizing hassles.....;)

No such thing as "no risk".
You could slip getting out of the shower in the morning, then choke on your cereal, fall on your ass on the sidewalk getting to your car, put your back out slinging your rig into the trunk, crash the car on the way to the DZ, trip and bang your nose on the manifest desk while signing the waiver, and you haven't even stepped anywhere near the big aluminium tube with the whirly things that can chop you up for meatloaf.....But for all this to happen, god must really hate you, and you've probably killed more than your share of kittens!

Besides a life without risk would be a dull one indeed.....B|

Some of you Trekkies out there might remember the time Major Kira on Deep Space Nine made a holodeck skydive, with the safety features turned off. She got her ass chewed out for it too. It was a dive from orbit, in a space suit, with sort of a crappy simulated freefall in a delta down to the planet Bajor. It's such a shame they didn't have some real skydiving adventures in the holodeck, Troi and Dr. Crusher would've made hot skychicks.

To Me, SKydiving isn't about the rush one gets from putting his life on the line, Skydiving is about hanging around the DZ with the other Skydiving Brothers & sisters And parachuting from Aircraft - I dn't see what risk has to do with teh sport.

excellent point! thats what came to my mind firsthand.
but besides i still think the question originated from a non-skydivers. why i think so: many people doing sports dont't even think their occupation might end in serious injury or death. How many people die while skiing, or swimming, sailing, climbing - u name it and find incidents

for myself: i dont do it for the risk- in the beginning it was a way to overcome some of my fears and therefor learning how to skydive was a heavy mind- & soultrip. now i simply enjoy the beauty, the freedom and the peace it delivers to my life. i'd still do it if there were no risk at all which of course it totally impossible

Maybe it wouldnt be so much fun with the "couchpotatoes" hanging round at dz's trying to act like they were wildbunch:(
to be fair: whuffos don't understand skydivers, we don't understand their little world & occupations (can u imagine collecting stamps, go fishing, play golf??? - never!!!)
if tehy think we have a secret death wish - let them, 'cause we know our reasons. and they are as different as anybodys nose...
The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle

There is risk in everything, from jumping out of airplanes to drinking a glass of water, so...Why not skydive?, besides, the thrill of falling, maneuvering in the air and flying a canopy is PRICELESS.

I'd still skydive - and for the same reason I play video games which are really really crappy by comparison. It's the percieved risk, not the consequence of faliure which excites me. Plus the people are cool, and its a family kind of thing even though we don't agree on everything...

There would be a lot fewer tandems and other one-jump wonders. Maybe more of the regular types. The crowd might get boring.
