Or 10.x.x.x or 172.16.x.x

Well 192.168.0.x is perfectly legal in a WAP environment, as most of these wireless routers default to that subnet. The reason I was asking him not to use 192.168.0.x is because I carry an IP phone with me (which runs on ethernet) so on my laptop I have the wireless connection and the wired connection and use internet connection sharing in windows, unfortunately internet connection sharing wants to setup 192.168.0.x as it's subnet for the wired card.. and if the wireless card is on that subnet already it won't allow it -- you can't change the subnet in ICS but you can on the wireless router :)

So it's cool i can pick up my phone plugged into my laptop and get a dialtone, as well as get all the calls that are dialed to my "home" phone number.

i know i'm a geek.

You may have just topped Bill von's level of geekness.
If it's a work IP phone, we might let it go. But if you actually have it setup at home... well...
it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

and what I read was
Well, blah blah blah blah blah blah........blah etc.

I know I am NOT a geek, thank God we will have Arano and Cajones on hand to take care of me, so I can talk to all of you who are not fortunate enough to be able to join us in Rantoul!

Don't forget that Pabellon Nazito will be there and I'm as geeky as either of the above :P

Phree you are far geekier than Cajones or Arano, but I still think Cajones is smarter than you.

bwaaahahahaahahaa

Ok, just a thought to discuss, how much would you laptop-carrying-conventioners be willing to pay for access to wireless if it existed (for the whole 10 days, ie, flat fee)???

oh yeah, and WHY would you bring a laptop to the convention? are you that attached?

I would.

To send pictures to the people who can't be there, of course!

I agree with Bill. I'd pay if it was for broadband wireless access. I'd kick maybe $25 for the entire convention run.

As to why bring a laptop? To upload pictures and post back to DZ.com so that all those who couldn't make it can seethe at the fact that they're not there.
