kansasskydiver 0 #1 July 9, 2003 I was just watching Cutaway (yeah I know I know) but I started thinking about how I got into skydiving. When I started I was in a relationship and didn't dedicate much time to skydiving at all. Made my first jump Feb then my second later that May. When I got out of that relationship I let skydiving get to me and it has forever changed my life. I honestly think I in some way "cutaway" from my life and gave skydiving everything. When I was hired at my new job I had HR approve weekends off so I could skydive. To me, skydiving and the people mean everything to me. It has changed so much of my life that I don't think I could ever leave it behind. Skydiving has a lot to do with the reason I never transferred schools, moved and other life related issues. Am I crazy or has skydiving consumed other people's lives as much as mine? And did you have to "cutaway" to get into skydiving? Blue skies, Chris<--- See look, pink dolphins DO exist! andy2 0 #2 July 9, 2003 I think choice 1 and 2 are the same! People that skydiving means everything too are usually the people that are wanting to jump MORE AND MORE! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... Unstable 9 #5 July 9, 2003 See here is how i figure it: Skydiving and Skydivers have changed my life since i got in the sport about a year ago. Means the World to Me. But, unfortunatly, I don't jump as much as I would like, which would work the pilots to death. Oh yeah and money. i'm a sophomore in college and i still have to think of ways to weasel jump money from mom & dad.=========Shaun ==========

AggieDave 6 #8 July 9, 2003 Skydiving is my life, it would be really boring if I wasn't jumping. And I would miss the people. I guess if I wasn't jumping I'd start Mt. Biking, playing paintball, rockclimbing and stuff again to try to fill the gap.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Im mainly into surfing but Im very open minded to other sports and think skydiving is damn interesting. I was looking for an arial sport I could get somewhat involved with and found this and really like the idea of it quite a bit, like being involved with it on whatever level I am able to stay on. I see no problem with anyone who dedicates to one sport but Id never limit myself to one sport, and that includes surfing, never limit myself to just that either. Skydiving, surfing, and racketball, to me that is a perfect combination.
skygod7777 0 #10 July 9, 2003 well, i never "cutaway" i guess. i have been around/worked at dropzones ever since i was born. so there wasn't anything that i had to "cutaway" from, because i've always been in/around it. later
geanky 0 #11 July 9, 2003 i don´t skydive as much as i want to but think about it everyday...it is a very important aspect of my life...for me it is one of my complete freedoms from everything learn to fly in 3d
MyOwnWay 0 #12 July 9, 2003 that's my weekends, spending it out at the dropzone because a) i have a chance to skydive and b) it's the only time i get to see you. two good things in one weekend. can't beat that!! _________________________________________ all good things are wild and free - Henry David Thoreau
txblondie 0 #13 July 9, 2003 Still on student status, so it's way too expensive to jump as much as I'd like just yet; at the same time, since I started jumping 3 months ago, if I'm not up at the DZ at some point over the weekend, it just doesn't feel right anymore, whether I'm jumping or not. It's the atmosphere and the people, almost as much as the thrill of a jump, that make me happy. I don't know how I ever lived without it! ***************************************** Blondes do have more fun!
Raefordite 0 #14 July 9, 2003 QuoteAm I crazy or has skydiving consumed other people's lives as much as mine? Of course you're crazy. That's why you are a cool skydiver! I started skydiving in the fall of 1993, bought a gear store by Feb. 1994, a DZO by 2000 and the rest is history.......yep, we're crazy!
Cava 0 #15 July 9, 2003 Since I started jumping, weekdays have become something to tolerate. If the weekend comes and the weather sucks, I'm not very good company. And it's kind of weird, probably a personal shortcoming, but lately I've noticed a bit of a disconnect with the civilians I know. Except for a few closer non-jumping friends, I'd just rather hang out with the jumpers. Even the ones I don't have much in common with. Being at the DZ just feels better than anywhere else. bclark 0 #16 July 9, 2003 Hey Steve. You know me. I can't think of anything I would rather be doing that gettin my knees in the breeze. I skydive full time during the season doing tandems and video / packing. Anything I can to avoid getting that real JOB. Even when I get pissed about the inevitable bullshit that occurs on the dz, I can take a step back and ask myself, What the fU#K would I rather be doing? SkyAnt 0 #17 July 10, 2003 When I was a boy I wanted to be a fighter pilot. Jumping is the closest I'm going to get to that. As far as the impact on my life. A year ago I met a women who I thought I would one day marry. 6 months latter I took up jumping again. We broke up about a month ago. Of cause its a little more complicated than that. Still, I have some skydiving related goals and once i Have achived them I will probably go on to another sport. And I will 'settle down' one day.
