TheAnvil 0 #1 July 10, 2003 ... who works in South Precinct: Well I worked a good one last night. I responded to a Home Invasion Robbery with one shot at a few minutes after 10 PM last night. I was the third car on the scene and arrived to find the paramedics working in vain on a guy on the front porch of this house. After some asking around, this is the jist of what happened. The local begging, thieving crackhead approached this house where the call was and proceeded to get into a fist fight in the front doorway with the homeowner's daughter when she refused to give him money. (I guess crackheads in this neighborhood just go door to door begging) The 71 year old homeowner heard the commotion and came to the door and tried to break them up. When he did, the crackhead pulled 1 of 2 kitchen knives from his pocket and proceeded to fight the homeowner. The homeowner reached behind the china cabinet next to the front door, retreived his Smith & Wesson .357 magnum and proceeded to put one straight through the center of the chest of the crackhead and the bullet lodged in the front door. The crackhead was what we call D.R.T. (dead right there). The homeowner wasn't even charged. Chalk one up for the good guys. Good riddance. AggieDave 6 #2 July 10, 2003 Kick ass! I like to here stories where law abiding citizens come out on top when faced with extra-ordinary situations. mnischalke 0 #4 July 10, 2003 Dumbass brought a knife to a gunfight. Guess that's what crack will do to common sense. The homeowner needs a new load if the bullet lodged in the door. That's just overpenetration. I likes me some Corbon for my home loads. Not much comes out the back... sneaky 0 #9 July 11, 2003 How it should be.....you guys have got some decent Laws over there. In the UK we had a guy imprisoned for 3 years for shooting a burglar inside his house. I wish our justice system would take yours as an example. It seems here they are designed to protect the criminal. 357 mag is one hell of a punch,I keep a shotgun in the house and would use it without hesitation.Well done old guy!! mnischalke 0 #11 July 11, 2003 Wow! What did that puppy set you back? If you like a smith, but want a better gun at a much higher price tag, that's certainly one to get. Personally, I'd prefer a Freedom Arms, since you get more bang for the buck--literally. I also like my old Dan Wesson's interchangeable barrel system, for that style of gun. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills. Swoopyswoop 0 #12 July 11, 2003 Ahhhhhhhh Yes, nothing more satisfying than a finely placed round in the chest of a deserving individual. I think its pretty amazing what someone who is a substance abuser will do to get a fix. A shame to act a fool and lose your life for a 5 dollar bill. Good riddance as far as I am concerned. Smart move on the homeowner, glad no charges were brough up against him for defending his home and the individuals inside. Thats always a tough call to make until your life is jeapordized, than its strange how quickly things come into focus when they are. crapflinger2000 1 #21 July 11, 2003 While I certainly support the right to keep an bear arms... fully... I do think some sort of mandatory training is needed... I used to work at a gun range... I wore a bullet proof vest.... I was sure I would need it some day. It was my experience that about 80% of gun-owners who came to our range were absolute fucking dipshit numbskulls who were one sneeze or stumble away from blowing myself or another customer away.... Unfortunately, it was a county run place, so ejecting these fucks was a major ordeal... Anyone with any sort of military or hunting background was reasonably safe... almost everyone else needed some sort of organized training.... these are the people blowing themselves away accidentally.... but... given the choice between a society with dipshits accidentally shooting themselves or others and a society with no guns at all... I'll pick the former. __________________________________________________ What would Vic Mackey do?

I'll pick the former. I'd agree with you, except in many of these cases it's not the dipshits who're getting killed. It's their kids, their kids friends, and in one case even a cop. A few monthes ago a kid took one to school for "show and tell", and shot his teacher. On an individual level, I like guns. I like hunting, target practice, and sometimes just blowing things up. I don't have a gun largely because of the liability - I live in downtown Chicago. That said, once you step back from the personal issues, I can't understand the societal need. The one person who actually needs to use one to defend themselves is offset by the 6 that get killed accidentaly. That doesn't make sense to me. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. Fast 0 #24 July 11, 2003 I can certainly agree with a good majority of gun owners being stupid. But I fair on the side that the benifites outweigh the drawbacks most of the time. This is another one of those things where stats are meaningless. Tell me, how many assaults, robberies, murders have been prevented due to a potential criminals fear of their victim being armed? No way to measure that. I avoided being robbed and possibly worse a few weeks ago because I was armed (albeit with a knife). I'm sure there are plenty of other examples that haven't hit the news.
