First Reserve ride, beer already consumed

Recommended Posts

Well, I had my first cut away yesterday. Cool jump really, 8 way (1 point), then free fly the rest of the way down. Everyone broke off and tracked, I got nice and stable at about 3500 and pulled by 3000 easy.

Nice soft opening with what looked like a simple little end cell closure on the right side. I thought "Oh I can fix this", and proceeded to unstow the break lines and pumped the right side. Giving 2 nice easy tries lead to 2 harder tries and then the right cell simply folded under. The canopy started a quick spin and I was grabbing red and silver.:o

The most beautiful green canopy came out and I had the best landing of my day.B|

Its turns out that my cell tore a 5½ foot hole on the top skin. (crap) But hey, its all good. A case of beer was purchased, gladly, and my rigger was apply rewarded. I was even asked to sign the bottle.

Hmmm, a prototype 8 cell variable lift canopy?? - I think there's a reason that hasn't been marketed - nice reaction, glad all but your main is OK. Now, go find your duct tape...:P:P:P

Make that a 6 cell variable.;) It was a PD7-cell 235 and will be on its way to Performance Design tomorrow for a evaluation and possibly a new panel. Or course it could also be a new main by then??? I believe it had about 700 jumps on it but I will need to get with my rigger to be sure as it was his prior.

Oh and before I forget... Hey Leroy - fuck you asshole:P:D

AHHH! Another cutaway for a person with low jump numbers! First Zeemax, now you. Makes me a little nervous.

However, it is encouraging to see you both handled the cutaway really well and lived to tell us about it.

Congratulations on a job well done.

Chris
