sfc 1 #1 July 15, 2003 Friend of mine had his first chop. Packing error, started the pack job in the field, fininshed it after the van ride back at the DZ. Time from start of malfunction to cutaway 13 seconds, but that was ok he was over the hills

Yes and some of us managed to close our containers before getting into the van
 sfc 1 #11 July 15, 2003 Quote HAHAHA>.. Er Um.. I mean... Very good job dealing with the mal... LOL -- ahem.. Not laughing--- he didn't see the funny side, he lost his freebag, $175, ouch, but I LMAO when he wasn't looking However the serious point was that the fridge only had Miller Lite in it and a limited supply of Becks, so this saved us from having to shell out for more beer. So the jump cost was $175 - freebag $18 - jump ticket $50 - cutaway handle $55 - repack $25 - beer
 AggieDave 6 #12 July 15, 2003 You left out the cost of the bottle for the rigger.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." He picked up the bag after stowing lines placing it on the main tray and then finishing in the van? No big deal. I believe it was already like that when it was over his shoulder. I'm not capping on him so don't get me wrong, it was just a rush job and the 4 line check was missed. He's not the first. Edit to add: Very much a bummer that he lost his stuff.
