Gotta give credit where it's rightfully deserved - WinXP is an outstanding product. Last weekend I was taking a break from studying, and I was rummaging though one of my parts boxes and came across a vintage ISA-based desktop PCMCIA interface (has slots for type II and III; sort of like a floppy drive). I couldn't get it to work with Win98 at all, and it took a little finagling in Win2k. I said to myself, "Okay, William H. Gates III, here's something that won't work with XP!". I plugged it in and to my astonishment, that damn thing came right up with no intervention, and when I plugged in a 40MB type II card, it not only assigned a drive letter, it noticed I had an avi file on the card root, and asked me whether I wanted to have Media Player open when this card was inserted, or just open a browser window instead! Of course, this product is obsolete because anybody with sense would use a USB-to-PCMCIA or -CF interface, but day-um! That impressed the heck out of me!"The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."

Actually, I thought their products took a huge leap in reliability with the release of Win2K... I personally don't like all the fluffy stuff they put in XP, thank God most of it can be turned off. Their new "ET phone home and register" licensing stuff is the freaking pits though, and reason enough to stay away from any of their current product offerings. wildblue 7 #9 July 16, 2003 That's ok, they just lost a $35 mil contract for the city of Munich I think it was. That's right, they decided to go with IBM & Linux it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

But of course I have no idea how to do that.

Yeah, but I have to keep my software legal at work, it's part of my job... that's why we're running old MS software, and looking to follow Munich's lead!
