spedbus 0 #52 July 15, 2003 i tend to think of freedom as a set of as few rules as necessary to provide the most options for living to the largest number of people. You'll lose speed, but keep altitude. It will look like you have a choice, speed or height, but either way you're still gonna nose-dive into the ground. -Chuck Palahniuk
SniperCJ 0 #53 July 15, 2003 QuoteI shoot a custom built Mauser sport version bolt action rifle in 7mm Remington Magnum caliber. The action is glass bedded and the24" Douglas Airguage barrel has been turned down to sport weight for ease of carrying in the high mountains... and it is free floating. The loads we use for hunting we reload our selves on National Match grade brass that has only been fired a couple times and only in the chamber of this rifle. Each load is reloaded by hand in the same RCBS dies.. and the powder is measured out to 1/10 of a grain +/_. The bullets are each also weighed and are within +/-.10 of a grain I prefer the Sierra 175 grain boat tail because of superior ballistics at the ranges I typically shoot at. For hunting I use Gamemaster bullets and for target I use the Match grade bullets of the same weight and configuration. The Rifle will consistently shoot sub minute of angle groups at 400 to 500 yards. The rifle is sighted in at 250 yards which with the load I use gives me a very flat trajectory out to 300 yards. Basically anything between me and 300 yards is only within a couple of inches elevation. I go shooting all year long.. and a shot is instinctual as far as breathing control and aim point and where and how I light up my scope. Ahhh, She's speaking my language... I don't "shoot my load when I'm armed". I shoot paper targets. What hobbies of yours can we criticize? Pretty ironic in a thread about freedom that you would disparage another's past time. smiles 0 #57 July 15, 2003 Freedom is many things... Freedom can create perpetual peace, long life and secure lives, abundant food, wealth, and prosperity. Freedom is powerful in saving lives and enriching life. Democratic freedom produces human security. Freedom is a basic human right recognized by the United Nations and international treaties, and is the heart of social justice. Freedom-free speech and the economic and social free market-is an engine of economic and human development, and scientific and technological advancement. Freedom ameliorates the problem of mass poverty. Free people do not suffer from and never have had famines, and by theory, should not. Freedom is therefore a solution to hunger and famine. Free people have the least internal violence, turmoil, and political instability. Free people have virtually no government genocide and mass murder, and for good theoretical reasons. Freedom is therefore a solution to genocide and mass murder; the only practical means of making sure that "Never again!" Free people do not make war on each other, and the greater the freedom within two nations, the less violence between them. Freedom is a method of nonviolence-the most peaceful nations are those whose people are free. Smiles

w4p2 0 #60 July 15, 2003 Amazon: I will only continue discussions regarding hunting ethics on that specific thread. As for Finnish UN activities or foreign aid, I propose you to check the appropriate UN and Finnish government pages. I doubt that you do it, far less post your findings because the posted facts would just simply manifest your ignorance. It is enlightening to have a Seatle based Same specialist on this thread. I only spend average 2 months per year in Lapland, so I find my self not qualified to speak on their behalf, and I am simply humbled facing your knowledge. I was actually thinking of contacting one of my friends in Inari to participate to this discussion, but thought the better of it, because I am sure you would have the arrogance to argue over their situation with their own representative. SMILES: Your definition of freedom was beautiful. Left very little to be added.Kind Regards: JL

Amazon 7 #62 July 16, 2003 QuoteIt is enlightening to have a Seatle based Same specialist on this thread. Hey I never claimed to be a Sami specialist... But the Pacific NorthWET with its climate similar to Scandinavia has drawn immigrants from all of those countries to our fishing and logging industries. There is a sizable population of them here and I have seen several stories in local news on Lapplanders and the Sami... and their dealing with the Finns and other ethnic groups.. but its interesting to note your rantings on freedom... and how you felt less than free when visiting this country. I also noted that with all of your demands to have all the freedom you desire, the indigenous people of your own country are not even allowed the freedom to persue their ancestral way of life. Only recently have they even been allowed some of those rights. I also saw on a thread that you are about to invade thier lands... as is your right in your mind to hunt and fish for the next 6 weeks. Have fun. I call that hypocrisy Amazon

Not as much recoil as you'd think because of the redirected gasses, but that 678 grain round packs a wallop. "The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
