RevJim 0 #1 July 18, 2003 Yea, life sometimes sucks the big one. Tuesday, 3pm CST my wife and I closed on our beer house. Today, after doing the math, I figured out I would have about $25 left over for Rantoul. That's for registration, jump tix, food, and fuel. Anyone else see a problem with this amount? I'm practically in tears while telling friends I probably cannot make it. This really sucks. Grumpy? Yea. Right now it's been over 2 weeks without a smoke. Cold turkey. From between 1.5 and 2 packs a day to nothing. Let's just say it's not helping matters, but I will NOT break down and have a smoke. I'm just praying I can scrape a couple of bucks together for a hop n pop this weekend. Thanks for the vent thread ability, HH. I owe ya one, again. It's your life, live it! Push 0 #2 July 18, 2003 Are you PMSing? Vibes, Rev. I probably won't make it to Rantoul either. -- Toggle Whippin' Yahoo Skydiving is easy. All you have to do is relax while plummetting at 120 mph from 10,000' with nothing but some nylon and webbing to save you.
Kris 0 #3 July 18, 2003 Sorry to hear it, Jim. I know you'll be missed if you can't make it, but you have to do what you have to do. Besides, getting the house was more important.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
Unstable 9 #4 July 18, 2003 Do what you have to do. I think all skydivers have been their at one point or another - especially the University Students. Missing WFFC isn't the biggest deal. I still hold my opinion that Freaks is still better newayz. Hey, have you ever thought of the money you could save by abstaining from alcohol all together???? More money for jumping - worth it to me. RevJim 0 #5 July 18, 2003 QuoteHey, have you ever thought of the money you could save by abstaining from alcohol all together???? I'm saving more than enough on the smokes. Quitting drinking, well, I'd lose money, since I'd still buy the beer and the bottles, but not drink them. Considering I may drink 1 or 2 times a year while not at a DZ, and many times on free dz beer, that's a mute point. Thanks all. The house was/is important, but that's only part of it. There's a full remodel to be done, by me, before we can move in. Built into the loan too, but I don't get a cent without a receipt or an estimate. So, I have a shit load of cash on tap (about $35,000) and no way to get to it "on-demand". Oh, and to me, missing the WFFC is the biggest deal. It's your life, live it! Unstable 9 #6 July 18, 2003 That was a way good decision to quit the smokes. Thats something you owe to yourself. There is a bright side to this - you are a member of the skydiving community. Unlike most other interests, our community extends well past the DZ. You know that if you needed help with your full remodel, half the jumpers at your DZ would probably do what they can to help you out. Skydiving always somes second these days. Get what ya need done, then you can have all the time in teh world and all your funds to jump. You've got another 50 years of jumping left - no fire around here. moodyskydiver 0 #13 July 18, 2003 Man I'm sorry to hear you're upset. I know how the no $ thing goes too..I almost sold my gear so I could pay tuition. As for quitting smoking way to go! I've never had to do something as hard as that, but I understand frustration and being moody.I just started taking medication for Bipolar disorder and I've been off the charts. I'm not going to WFFC either. Just think, this time next year, you can go to WFFC and you'll have a lovely house!**wishing you good non-smoking vibes** "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
