billvon 3,121 #1 July 18, 2003 As of today, more soldiers have died in the war against Iraq than in the 1991 Gulf War. Since Bush declared major hostilities over, there has been an average of one US soldier killed a day in Iraq. I guess they took Bush's words to heart and are "bringing it on." I hope we don't forget about the soldiers in Iraq (and Afghanistan) as we move on to the next threat. Their sacrifices are no less noble than those killed during the weeks and months of intense fighting that got all the CNN coverage. And even for the ones who are 'only' injured or not injured at all, keep in mind that there are hundreds of thousands of troops away from their families for months on end - and that may soon turn into years. Zenister 0 #3 July 18, 2003 i tried to explain to some of my 'hippy' friends that the war was pretty much the 'flavor of the month' for the media and as soon as the big fireworks were over we'd be back to your regularly scheduled opiate to keep the masses entertained.. exactly as we are now... doesnt take much before the sheep stop paying attention, I actually talked to one woman who was amazed we still have troops in Afganistan...i guess shes been watching reality tv since CNN stopped "breaking news coverage'____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. thethinker 0 #6 July 18, 2003 God bless em all. Its funny or should i say more so sad...how even tho the war was declared at an end....we don't hear as much up to date issue. Kinda shows how the media works. We do not have to visit a madhouse to find disordered minds; our planet is the mental institution of the universe. -Johann von Goethe

BikerBabe 0 #8 July 18, 2003 Yes...according to the Joint Staff (the folks in the pentagon who work for the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff), the war is considered over. Funny, why are my friends and compatriots still dying over there?Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup! Might be able to find the stats online but I'm not able to give them here. We have lost SEVERAL soldiers since the "end of hostilities" due to friendly fire.
