happythoughts 0 #31 July 21, 2003 My last jump today was with a bud who was doing his 400th. His g/f arranged for a pie later. Usually don't do pies except for 100th and 1000s, but this was a fun kind of social pieing.

CanuckInUSA 0 #38 July 21, 2003 Quote1 case owed for first broken toe. Bummer ... will you be better for Rantoul? It's two weeks away. 0:10:1 No humps ... 10 jumps ... 1 case of beer owed for jumping the first time without my Cypres turned on. You see I jumped in Calhan CO all weekend for their High Pains boogie (altitude is approx. 6400 MSL). It was a good weekend jumping one of Skydive Arizona's Otters, but the winds were a little squirelly. So after a not so nice landing, I packed up and then showed up at Mile-High (5000 MSL) for the sunset load. But bonehead over hear didn't think about his Cypres until the airplane was taking off and the fact that it was set this morning 1400 feet higher than where I was jumping at. So one of my jump mates help me turn my Cypres off for the jump and that was this first time in 340 skydives that I didn't jump a rig with an active Cypres. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

HeatherB 0 #41 July 21, 2003 QuoteUsually don't do pies except for 100th and 1000s, but this was a fun kind of social pieing. Jeez...you're evil. My numbers are kinda pathetic: 15:0:0 15 minutes in that horribly addictive tunnel! 0 jumps. (weather, family stuff) 0 beer owed. (but I did give my rigger a bottle of wine for my last chop!) And...my reserve pin is fine, whohoo! If we don't have good weather this weekend, I'll be doing my 500th at Rantoul.
BlueEyedMonster 0 #42 July 21, 2003 1:0:0 on the first one. So now I have this wuffo that I have to convince to jump out of a plane. I never made it to the DZ this weekend. Had to stay home and get the apt ready for the family next weekend. But, now I have lots of extra jump tickets!
bwilling 0 #43 July 21, 2003 Finally, I have numbers to post! 0:5:2 After a 2 year layoff, I am back in the sky! I got the talk from Ernie. The "dude, what are thinking, coming out every two years to make a jump" talk. In or out. Get current and stay current, or quit. That talk. I made a recurrency jump with Ernie's g/f Mandy, one of my favorite people in skydiving, and the same instructor that I made my other recurrency jump with almost 3 years ago now... if there's anything good about having to make recurrency jumps, it's that I get to jump with Mandy. I did have to use my "get out of jail free" card though. I met at lot of folks at Skyfest. I jumped with some of them. I had great openings and soft landings, even in the heat and low winds, on my new to me (so I owe beer) Spectre... I jumped the Casa, my first (so I owe more beer) tailgate aircraft! It was so cool! Diving out that back of that thing just rocks! My flying skills suck so bad after such a long layoff, but I'm sure it's nothing that a thousand jumps won't cure. I am so glad that I didn't quit. Slappie 9 #44 July 21, 2003 2:0:0 Quit skydiving so I'll never have numbers in the second two spots. Vallerina 2 #46 July 21, 2003 Quotefirst sunburn I've had in years. Ohhh....I can't resist...I told you so!!!!! 28 mins to finish my first 5K:0:0 Thursday: I saw my best friend one last time before she leaves for Phoenix (I attached a pic...she's the one on the right!) While it's sad to have someone that I'm so close to move so far away, I'm really happy for her and her kick ass boyfriend, since they're finally getting out of the Midwest like they've always wanted! Friday: The very scary race! I did better than I had expected, even though the last leg of it was entirely uphill! Saturday: The Dayton Air Show was really cool! The second cool thing I've seen in Ohio! Sunday: I was a big BUM!!!!!There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

Just one day of nothing I need once a week. Anywho... yes the creeper races are for some weird reason one of the funnest events I have ever participated in. Ok... Back to the real world kicking and screaming. For now... Skydivers are the nicest people I have ever met. Well 'cept for one or two but the general populous "is all good"... Deuce 1 #49 July 21, 2003 0:0:a few Spent the weekend in Yosemite with my wife, kids, and Mom. Tent cabin in Curry Village responsible for big goose-egg in category one. Same for category two. My girls playing with squirrels and raccoons and deer were worth it, though. Absolutely amazing sunset Saturday night from Glacier Point. I was expecting it to be crazy-crowded, cause I put the trip together last week, but it wasn't. Thunder, lightening, and rain both nights, beautiful days. If you've never been , you should see it. happythoughts 0 #50 July 21, 2003 QuoteQuoteUsually don't do pies except for 100th and 1000s, but this was a fun kind of social pieing. Jeez...you're evil. Being evil is my best quality. Patrick and his g/f Joanne were in the base. Nice 10-way. Didn't work exactly as expected, but Joanne has only got 80 jumps and a couple of the experienced people had fallrate problems. It was fun and exciting. After we pied Patrick, Paul assisted us by getting his squirt gun from the bar and hosing everyone else. Also, it was Johnny G. birthday on Saturday, so he got an extra soaking (like we needed a reason for foolishness). Muff, muff.
