tailspin

does anyone remeber this cartoon from way back. well im 16 so probably not that far back, and i dont know if it was ever shown in USA but i remeber watching it. it had buloo and king louin and sheer kahn frtom the jungle book in it. Anyway there was a little bear in it who had a little board that he used to fly behin the plane - kinda like a cross between wakeboarding and skysurfing. just curious would this be possible on a specially designed wing/board thing???

I remember tailspin.

I do not however remember the board thingy your talking about.

I do however think it would be difficult to hang onto the "towrope" while the plane takes off.

Yes that would be difficult and unsafe, but what about skysurfing behind a casa with some type of cable? Slowly let them out via a winch or something?

Probably wouldn't last long but you might could pull it off.. of course when you let go of the cable it will be flopping around a good bit.. maybe it isn't a good idea.

I remember seeing something like this... I think it was a cessna maybe... something like a bungee cord, and awingsuit. Senseless Acts of Video maybe? I forget... hmmm... must go find...

Yeah, I remember that TV show, it was on in the US back in the early 90s. I watched it every afternoon when I got home from school (give me a break, I was 10 in 90).

I've thought about trying to do it with a skyboard...it'd probably work, but it wouldn't be as cool as the cartoon version (nothing is ever as cool as a cartoon, huh?):P

There are a couple videos of people trying things like that at skydivingmovies.com (too tired to find links right now). Felix Baumgartner (did i get that right without looking it up??) tried it with a wingsuit towed behind a B-25. The hardware holding him to the plane broke pretty quicly doing some minor damage to the plane. I THINK the other one is Joe Jennings doing it with a camera suit behind (or more like under) a 182. Not very spectacular.
