Ron 10 #1 July 25, 2003 Well just got back from 30 hrs at the Bragg tunnel. If you have never been there....WOW. If you want to go try calling 1 800 USA-Army. We were able to do all the 4 way blocks (with some cheating). SkyVenture is cool, but the Bragg tunnel is amazing. (Not bad for 12 million). If the Elsinore tunnel is like this one it will be amazing. SkymonkeyONE 4 #2 July 25, 2003 Actually, I believe Elsie will be two feet larger than ours and still be able to pin you to the roof with a rucksack on. Nice seeing you, Ron Chuck

Ron 10 #9 July 25, 2003 I was at Bragg for three years. In that time I was invited in a few times with the GK's. I went twice at GK tryouts. I managed to sneak in a few times at lunch. (I was only able to do this since I had been there so much...Just showing up with a jumpsuit and an ID card will get you shown to the outside door.) I was on the 82nd Demo team and we got the tunnel a few times. The Green Beret team would get the tunnel, and I would help them with students, and the HALO challange course folks. This time I went as a coach to the SOCOM boys. You basicly have to be at Bragg, and be seen enough...Then you stap hang with a group. juanesky 0 #11 July 25, 2003 If someone is from the Navy, would you be let in?"According to some of the conservatives here, it sounds like it's fine to beat your wide - as long as she had it coming." -Billvon
Ron 10 #12 July 25, 2003 QuoteIf someone is from the Navy, would you be let in? We had guys from the Navy in with us. But they were memebers of the SOCOM team. You just can't walk up with a boogie suit and a ID card. You have to be a member of a team that has the tunnel, or have a reason to strap hang. The Airspeed guys had the tunnel also this week...But they are the US team. So you can join up, and know the right people, or become the US team....Both are a lot more work....It's better to just fly to Orlando and pay."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,
dgskydive 0 #13 July 25, 2003 Ok guys let's get it right. Elsinore isn't getting a windtunnel. PERRIS IS! YAHOOOOOOOOOO!Dom

Ron 10 #15 July 25, 2003 Elsinore is planned to get a tunnel. VS1 I think it is. It is supposed to be built from the same company that built the Bragg Tunnel."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,
quade 4 #16 July 25, 2003 Uh, yeah, and Anaheim had one planned for a 2000 opening as well . . . never happened. I'd be cool if Elsinore got their tunnel going, but currently the Perris Tunnel is under construction and the Elsinore one is not. See attachment for a photo shot within the last couple of days.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
dgskydive 0 #17 July 25, 2003 I just can't see how they will be able to get funding for it. This town isn't big enough for two wind tunnels. The Elsinore tunnel was proposed before the Perris tunnel if my sources are right, but Perris was faster on the draw and got it done. The city of Perris jumped on the approval real quick so that it would make it real hard for Elsinore to get one. Bank sees one up and running very close to where Elsinore wants to put on up at and they don't see the money coming back. I wouldn't hold my breath for it.Dom

jmpwme 0 #19 July 26, 2003 Damn Ron - I'm jealous. I'm on the US team (skysurf video) and didn't get an invite to Bragg, guess those guys only count the FS team!!! I'll have to chat with them about that. I feel so left out! Drop me an email if you have time and tell me how the tunnels (Bragg and Orlando) are different. I'd be interested to hear. Have you flown the tunnel in France? As for the Elsinore Tunnel - Its a long complicated story, but contrary to posts above - its not a financing issue. Would the market support two? Who knows and why do we care, unless we are investors. More tunnels means more tunnel time and, if economic theory is correct, at cheaper prices! marcandalysse 0 #20 July 26, 2003 Now I know why they call it the Bragg Tunnel. Coach, you are BRAGGING!!! we are all jealous, but at least we have our back yard pool 'windtunnel simulator'!!! (see previous post)
