Mad47 0 #28 July 23, 2003 Huh ... I stopped lifting 11 month ago, soon after I started to jump. Now I'm back again since I recently realized that one can not be a good skydiver if he's in bad or even 'OK' physical shape. First several times in gym were really humiliating since I used to weight 190 lbs and press 250lbs on bench and now I'm 178lb and can barely press 185 ... it's all coming back quickly though ... jtval 0 #29 July 23, 2003 lol . I cant lift much either. I still have problems since I broke my Collar bone. I usually just do enough to feel the burn/add definition. but it still hurts ALOT!(broke it 2 years ago) usually after I work out ,even my rig Straps hurt I do alot of cardio stuffMy photos My Videos
Mad47 0 #30 July 23, 2003 I am too lazy to do a lot of cardio I usually run 5-10 min at very high speed to warm up and then start working out ...

AggieDave 6 #35 July 23, 2003 An update about me. I've been lifting again for almost 4 weeks, my strength is coming back very quickly and size is starting to build up quickly again. So far this week I benched 225lbs for reps (8) (not near what I used to do, but I'm getting there), rowed 360lbs for reps (8) and shrugged 450lbs for reps (8). So I'm feeling good, looking better, and getting motivated by seeing large amounts of weights being moved (with good form and proper reps).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." racer42 0 #38 July 24, 2003 Keep up the good work. It only gets harder as you get older. I gave up on the heavy lifting a while back. To time consuming. The good news is I'm in better shape at 43 than I ever was at 23.L.A.S.T. #24 Co-Founder Biscuit Brothers Freefly Team Electric Toaster #3 Co-Founder Team Non Sequitor Co-Founder Team Happy Sock
jumprunner 0 #39 July 24, 2003 Quoteyea its the groundsports that'll fuk you up One thing to be said about this. Surfing fucks you up but its to be expected. So Im just getting over a six inch slash on the left arm, left busted/ bruised hip, busted kneecaps, soreness has pretty much gone after a week, but was extremely painful. Ofcourse, I expect all that, no pain no pleasure. Skydiving: usually you dont get hurt but when you do, its always pretty serious, ie you either end up in the hospital, under surgery, or dead. Not to mention that having anything go wrong is usually pretty fucking scary. I wouldnt say skydiving is safer than ground or water sports because injuries are less frequent, Id say its more dangerous since there is little or no tolerance for injuries. Anyway, thats my perspective.

I was going to try that but keep getting told it isnt a good thing, ie muscles build while youre resting not working.
AggieDave 6 #41 July 24, 2003 No way, not everyday. I'm on a 4 day training cycle right now. Eventually I'll get back up to my 5 day workout cycle, not repeating a workout during the 5 day cycle. Then off for 2 days, then back at it. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
jtval 0 #42 July 24, 2003 Im guessing you dont work the same muscles everyday. whats your routine. like' do you do chest and shoulders on monday? etc... what types of lifting to do you freeweights machines. 19year old students? My photos My Videos

I only lift about three days right now or until it starts getting harder to lift the same weight. Other than that, the best thing is mountain climbing, puts a lot of pressure on your legs but I can feel even my arms tense up like I had been weight lifting. Climbing has the effect of building muscle + intense cardio, you almost dont need the gym. And you get a great view at the top so you always get the motivation to go higher and work out that much more.
jtval 0 #44 July 24, 2003 I still havent been acclimated to the dessert heat. I need to do my work out in a gym or I will die of heat exhaustion. I do the hamster wheel (just started again) for abou t25-35 minutes. we have a hamster climber too. y'know the wall thats on a rotating belt! I climb that for about 20-30 minutes after I am done on the treadmill. it doenst increase my climbingskills but it works out the upper body and stomach pretty goodMy photos My Videos

Just dont dehydrate cause if you do theyre going to be picking you up off the ground. I usually go up at night, still warm outside but not too bad. Last night got a major heart palpitation on the way up, didnt know WTF that was, but that was scary, so came back down before I reached the top.
