rhino 0 #1 July 26, 2003 1. Need to avoid PAIN 2. Need to gain PLEASURE What are 2 things you have been putting off doing lately? examples 1. Dishes 2. Laundry What pain do you associate with doing those things? 1. Not convenieny, simply don't want to. 2. Not convenient, not done in my own time, and simply don't want to. What pleasure do you associate with not doing those things? 1. I don't have to do the dishes. That's good because I don't like to. 2. I don't have to do the laundry. I hate doing laundry and folding clothes. Ask yourself this question.. What PAIN will I feel if I don't do these things? Self-Esteem? Family life? Financially? Will your business suffer? Friendships? 1. My wife will have to do them or they will sit for days making it harder to do the dishes. She will get upset that I am not helping around the house. I will feel that I am not helping around the house and feel guilty for it. If she is unhappy other aspects of our relationship will suffer. If I am too lazy to do something this simple that laziness will carry into other aspects of my life and procrastination will set in. 2. Again my wife will be unhappy because she will feel like she is carrying the load. Watching her do the laundry will make me feel bad. Not helping will make me feel worse because I know I should be. The laundry just won't get done. Our relationship will suffer. The house will be messy making both of us uptight. What will you gain if you take these actions right now? 1. They will be done. I will have beat procrastination. My self-esteem will improve. My discipline will improve. My wife will be happy! She will want to do something for me to make me happy! No mess to look at.. Relationship will be less stressfull. 2. Wife will be really appreciative and want to return the favor. Got them done. don't have to worry about it anymore. I will feel better for doing my part. She will be suprised and happy! I will be happy! The house will be neat!! Try this simply thing.. Your association with things that you have been putting off will change. You will see that in the long or even short term that it is more painfull not to do it than to take action. Maybe this will help someone... Clownburner 0 #2 July 26, 2003 Heh, remember: Procrastination is like masturbation.. Sure, it feels good while you're doing it, but you later realize you're just screwing yourself. 7CP#1 | BTR#2 | Payaso en fuego Rodriguez "I want hot chicks in my boobies!"- McBeth
