What foods or drinks will raise the alkaline and lower the acid in your body???

Recommended Posts

Not sure but I think Cabbage (the purple lettuce) should counter act with the acid in your stomach. Remember the acid base experiment in middle school. Umm.. I found Milk doesn't help much just kinda covers it up for an hour. Alkaline, maybe most of the sport drinks. aka gatoraid, powerade etc..

Bread will absorb some of the excess acid; that's a good start. Cheese is okay, but milk is NOT, it will irritate the acid. Meat that is not spicy will help.
If you have serious acid reflux problems, though, don't count on any of this. Go get some Pepcid Complete now, and make a doctor's appointment. I had a teacher who had to have surgery to repair a hole in his esophagus because of acid reflux. So, if that's why you're asking, take it seriously. Once or twice? Swallow an antacid...a couple won't hurt. And stop eating spicy foods!

Rhino:

I am not a doctor. Howver, I do believe that, in terms of the body, the regulation of the acid-base levels is controlled by the kidneys, which is resposible for cleaning the blood and regulating much of the hemodynamics, like acid/base levels.

This is much like "what foods will increase blood sugar levels?" It's a question difficult to answer unless a person is diabetic.

If this is a problem with the body, consult a physician. Mere body activity raises the acid levels of the body.

I was going to suggest Clorox. What lawrocket said is true -- what goes into your mouth goes through a whole lot of processing before making it into the rest of your body. And "acid in body" is kinda sorta open, too.

In a physiological sense. If it's the same kind of body chemistry that believes that milk clogs you up, well, I'd go to bodybuilding sites and look up what they say.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
