hooked 0 #3 July 28, 2003 If I remember correctly, ERICCONNELLY (sp?), who posts with that name, jumps there. You might want to look him up in search and pm him. sdctlc 0 #5 July 28, 2003 From Tumwater you are about 35-40 miles from Toledo straight down I-5. Mike and Donna havae a nice little DZ there. Good group of people. They run a C-182 and also had a Beech 18 but I think Steve is trying to sell it. Like I noted a good bunch of people and they have fun bonfires over the summer on Sat nights and some Fri nights. www.skydivetoledo.com Also you have a great choice in Kapowsin. Depending on which direction you go getting to K-pow will be a little longer then the drive to Toledo. Toledo is a straight shot down I-5. Distance wise getting to K-pow is agout 50 miles or so but only about 1/3 is on the highway. Great DZ at K-pow. The have the obligatory C-182 but also have a Caravan or Twin Otter on site almost every weekend. They have a number of turbins and they have them out and about all the time but generally have one at home all the time as well. http://www.skydivenet.com/kapowsin/ You also have BlueSkies Skydiving in Bremerton that is about the same amount of time from Tumwater aas is Kapowsin. they have 2 182's and are also a good group of people..... www.blueskies-skydiving.com Then there is Skydive Molalla about 3 hours south and Skydive snohomish about 1.5 to 2 hours North dependig on Traffic through Seattle. Welcome to Washington. There are a number of us on dropzone.com that live here. Hope to run into you sometime! Scott C."He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" EricTheRed 0 #8 July 28, 2003 Hope to see you there. It's probably the most laid back DZ on the planet. Great people and a BIG landing area. No farmer McNasty's and when the beer light comes on - watch out. We have a very nice 182 and the cleanest Beech18 in the US. Drop in to see us, we'll make you feel like family.illegible usually
MochaSkyChick 0 #9 July 29, 2003 I drove out there from the airport to check out the landing area. It was pretty easy to find but I couldn't tell where you would park your car after turning onto the grass road. I hope to make it back out there one afternoon after work. I also went out to Kapowsin but ended up back tracking a few times and they were done for the day by the time I got there. They said should have a couple of tadems coming out tomorrow around 5:30. Amazon 7 #10 July 29, 2003 Ok so how long are you going to be in the area?? I just got back from Lost Prairie this afternoon and am back at work. I need to make it down to Kapow....I got real used to jumping out of Otters the last 10 days. Normally I jump at Snohomish up here on the northern end of the Seattle area. I think we are supposed to be getting the Caravan back. I got to meet some of the Skydive Toledo crew over at LP last week... Good people and I will be making a tirp down that way from time to time. I think they are planning some night jumps to satisfy some USPA D requirements for some people trying to beat the Sept deadline. Amazon
MochaSkyChick 0 #11 July 29, 2003 QuoteOk so how long are you going to be in the area?? Only till Thursday. I leave out Friday morning back to Atlanta. I'm hoping that the clients I'm training this week will be really cool and let me leave work early enough to get in some afternoon jumps. It'll either be Kapowsin or Toledo. I think they are the only one open during the week. PMS #62 Zarza R[red
Zenister 0 #12 July 29, 2003 heya if your going to be at Kapow this afternoon I'll head out that way afterwork..thanks for the heads up on the tandems its sometimes hit or miss with full altitude rides during the week..____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. Amazon 7 #13 July 29, 2003 Bummer.... Weekdays are hard to fill airplanes..I work nights and get off on thurs morning. I do manage to get in a jump or two on thurs at Snohomish.. The Caravan is back this week and the DZO.. Tyson will send the load light if there is a couple tandems. http://www.skydivesnohomish.com/skycal.htm I know Zen gets in some afternoon jumps.... are those Cessna loads for swoopin or Otter loads Zen??? Amazon
Zenister 0 #14 July 29, 2003 usually its the otter, it only takes one tandem (or AFF) to send the otteror one $180 jump ticket. i actually did my first full altitude (10.5) cessna jump at Kapow last week..____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. Amazon 7 #15 July 29, 2003 Quotei actually did my first full altitude (10.5) cessna jump at Kapow last week.. ___________________________________________________ I am going to have to be super careful if I get back in a Cessna anytime soon.. 10k goes by FAST after doing 30 skyvan and Otter jumps.. not to mentinon only jumping the Caravan before leaving for LP... I made a 4500 ft AGL Helocopeter jump at LP......20 second delay... uh.. do the math Amazon
Push 0 #16 July 29, 2003 Did you use a BASE rig? -- Toggle Whippin' Yahoo Skydiving is easy. All you have to do is relax while plummetting at 120 mph from 10,000' with nothing but some nylon and webbing to save you.
Zenister 0 #17 July 29, 2003 yea. i should also mention that it only takes 3 (4 prefered)to sent the cessna up for H&Ps, so you can do lots of those on the slow afternoons..____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. Amazon 7 #18 July 29, 2003 QuoteDid you use a BASE rig? Nope it was my regular rig.... with a Triathalon and it snivelled. I did pitch at 2k After doing a back layout to a pike to another layout........... and the guy I was jumping with went smoking on past me..... snivelling even worse....on his Sabre2..... I think Bryan was going for Cypress fire number 2. Amazon
