Give the Gift of Life

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine was hurt last week and required 2 complete blood transfusions. [:/]
The hospital ran out and had to get more from other sources.
Out here in Calif. we are having a blood drive in Hemet, Aug 9th from 11am.-4:00pm.
Please, everyone, if you can give blood where you live, DO IT. We all might need some liquid gold sometime.
For further info on the hemet drive, call Blue at Square One in Perris.
Thanks

I can't donate anymore. I lived in Europe in the 80's and might have Man Cow Disease. I think that's funny. Haaaa, mooooaaaahhahaaha, moooaaahaamaaoaaa!!!!

I'm not allowed to donate, either. Which puts me in a conundrum. On one hand, I really feel badly for those who need blood but have trouble getting it. On the other hand, I'd like to tell the Red Cross to bite my ass and I hope they reap what they sow.

I guess that would be enlightened cow's disease!

LInda,
I have to wait til 23 august b4 I can give again. I usually give platelettes (aphresis)

they can be store longer and given to any blood type. the only difference is that it takes 2 hours to give one time. it seems odd that I had to wait a year but I have plenty to give and will start giving as soon as my time is up;)

Just wanted to share with everyone that it isn't always money that will help charities and this doesn't cost anything but a little time to give.
Thanks to those that can and do!!!:)

It might be that some folks who can't give blood (I can't either) can at least be typed for bone marrow. I had hepatitis when I was 11, but that's no impediment to a bone marrow donation apparently.

Some of you who can't give blood for various reasons might still be able to be registered for bone marrow. And if you're that one person in several million who is a match for someone -- that'd be worth it!

From the Red Cross website...

". The same good health requirements for a whole blood donor apply to platelet donors. "

I understand that to mean "male homosexuals need not apply". Strangely enough, it implies that lesbians are welcome.
