Hey Techies......WinZip?

Recommended Posts

Someone has sent me a zipped file, are there any free programs I can download to view the zipped file? Which program would be better (if there are more than one)?

Thanks,

Jan

Well, http://www.winzip.com is where you can get Winzip, which is the defacto-standard tool. I don't know why.

If you want a free one I've used this:

http://download.com.com/3000-2250-10139179.html?tag=lst-0-1

... and for a listing of more software check here:

I'm assuming you're a Windows user. I don't know what to suggest if you're using a Mac, and if you're using Linux you probably wouldn't have posted the question.

for Apple Macintoshes
ftp to mac.archive.umich.edu to retrieve unzip2.01.cpt.hqx
from the /mac/util/compression/ directory.

Here are some other pointers:

mac.archive.umich.edu:/mac/util/compression/zipit1.2.cpt.hqx
ftp.uu.net:/pub/archiving/zip/MAC/mac-unzip-51.hqx
