Rented this DVD today. Let me say first, that aside from Three Kings, George Clooney wasn't at the top of my list of actors to catch on the screen or on disc, but he redeemed himself in this movie. Overall, an excellent production directed by Steven Soderbergh and produced by James Cameron. I recommend it.

Ocean's Eleven is yet another great George Clooney movie (and Ocean's Twelve is set for release in 2004)

i enjoyed O11 although i think he pretty much played the same character from Out of Sight.

A buddy of mine rented this movie, we never finished watching it, maybe got 25 mins into it and just stopped.

So what was the point of the movie?

Sadly I sat through the entire movie. I feel like a lesser person for it If anyone were to ask me what the worst movie ever created was...I would say Solaris. Now I'm not saying it's a bad movie, but for my particular taste it was way too slow, there wasn't a whole lot of point to the movie. And what's up with Clooney showing his ass but not the chicks? Arrogant little bastard

I too, had the perception of a psychological-sci-fi-thriller type movie. When I rent DVDs I always watch the trailers first to get amped up for it. In this case, I did that, and chose to watch the featurette too. The sci-fi is secondary to be sure. And I guess the only way to describe this is as a psychological-sci-fi-love/loss story. A role that is not normally type-cast for someone like Clooney, but his performance in such brought out a side of his talent apart from his nice-guy-bad-guy roles in Oceans 11, etc.

Certainly not a movie for everyone, definitely a movie one must choose to step into, versus be captured by. I guess...

That movie was awesome and it's amazing how many people have no idea it was based on "The Odyssey"

well they did disguise it rather well... and really only the basic story arc is the same. It doesnt really parallel the Odessey scene by scene.

agreed though it is a great movie!

True...it was "loosely" based on the Odyssey.

the first time i was told that i didnt believe it at all, but the more i thought about it the connections started to dawn on me.. and it was a great excuse to reread the Odyssey and then watch the movie again

This movie sucks big time. My girlfriend bought it last weekend we regreted the time spent watching it. I would rather watch paint dry than watch this movie again.

O I have to disagree.. This movie rates high up on the list of "I want the two hours of my life you just stole back" Movies.

I fell asleep when I first tried to watch it. Thought Sci-Fi George Clooney, I must have been tired. Let's try again. I should have trusted my first instinct.

If you turn the DVD over, it makes a good coaster for your drink.
