Morning all,

I found the following link on my Sunday newspaper.
Basically you can but processed uranium in Iraq, if you know the right people

PURE uranium oxide which could be used in the making of a “dirty nuclear bomb” capable of killing countless people is being offered for sale in a Basra souk for $250,000.
Senior American officials have confirmed that rampant looting was discovered by US marines arriving at the al-Tuwaitha nuclear site on April 7.

Melissa Fleming, a spokes woman for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, says: “As many as 400 potentially lethal radioactive sources are still missing from the inventory at al-Tuwaitha.”

Before you get too worried, you might investigate how much nuclear material has gone missing from the inventory in the good ol' US of A and in the UK. And then there's Russia and other former USSR states.

A few years ago I became the custodian of 28grams of plutonium when I was appointed chairman of our university radiation safety committee! I managed to get the govt. to take it back, but not without a lot of hassle.

The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

I'm not too worried I just thought I'd share a source with some other folks here.

Did you here about what they did at Dounrey in Scotland?
There was a story where they threw nuclear waste down a shaft that drained in to the sea. Some bright spark then threw some sodium metal down there as well to add to the mix without thinking if the consequences should it get wet.

Sellafield has it's own horror stories and the rusting hulks in Murmansk are a bit of a nightmare.

Acouple of nice sites in the good old USA. Hanford.....polluted the ground and water for MILES around with seeping nuclear waste. There's a place in Tennessee that lets you hunt deer on the reservation. Of course...after you shoot one you have to stop at the ranger station so they can run a geiger counter over it...:S
