KawiZX900 0 #1 August 8, 2003 downloaded the trial. maybee it's that it's 4 in the morn. But I have no idea what i'm doing. The lens flare is neat, if only i could get it to work. Accelerate hard to get them looking, then slam on the fronts and rollright beside the car, hanging the back wheel at eye level for a few seconds. mccordia 74 #2 August 8, 2003 Have you used it before? Some people use After Effects as an editing program, but it's realy for image manipulation and special effects (and some groovy Oprah stylee title stuff:) but it's not a program you click/start and understand in 10 seconds... There's a lot of stuff in my showreel that shows after-effects work. There's a shot of a spaceship/spacestation, and that's just a couple of images from google, cut out and animated in after effects. And a few shots of a friend of mine, who I duplicated (so you see him as twins, in my own whazup commercial) and there's a lot of misc. 3D stuff that was added into 2D backgrounds with after effects. http://www.3dluvr.com/mccordia/3danimation/mccordia_demo2001_divx.avi The program is incredible...it's somewhere in between photoshop and premiere, and can do tons of cool things. If you take the patience to learn that is...JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
KawiZX900 0 #3 August 8, 2003 no,I'm going to be picking up Final Cut Pro 4 this month for video side O' the house. The effects in (AE) look pretty sweet, i'm just in no mind to tackle it right now. This weekend for sure 10-20 hours plugging away at it though. Your demo reel didn't load for one reason or another. i'd like to see it though. mccordia 74 #4 August 8, 2003 After Effects is NOT a video editing program btw. A lot of people use it as one, but it's a program in which you work on or enhance one single shot of video.. For editing, use Premiere, DV Raptor, Final Cut Pro, Miro Studio, Media Studio...or heck...even a casablanca..:) My showreel is in divx/avi format...should work if you have divx installed. Don't use a download accelerator...my provider doesn't support that..:(JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
jdhill 0 #5 August 8, 2003 AE is a compositing / effects program for video and or web... it is a mother to use without some training... if you don't do that kind of stuff for a living, it is probably not worth the money... If you a getting FCP 4, it is billed as having compositing features, probably not on the same level as AE, but enough to do some cool things (and in the same program).
