turtlespeed 226 #1 August 7, 2003 Just curious...Has anyone ever been fired for post whoring? I for one think that it should be illegal to fire someone for issues derived from skydiving.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

Zennie 0 #4 August 15, 2003 IIRC that was the lame excuse his employer gave, but he was getting his work done. It had been in the works for some time. Glad he found something better. - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon
jose 0 #5 August 15, 2003 The computer that we I usually use to write reports was busted, so I used the receptionists because she was on vacation. I wrote my report and checked out a couple of post after. Next week, I get called into my A.C. office, and he tells me no more going on Dropzone.com. As it turns out, that cunt of a secretary looked in her history and complained that someone was using "her" computer, therefore my A.C. discovering a familiar I.P. address he was wondering about that came up in some report. It really irks me when some stupid no talent bitch thinks she owns the computer that was placed in front of her, so shes got to fuck that person. Oh well, fixed that problem. I use remote connection from Xp to log on to my computer at home and I can do anything I godamn want.
wmw999 2,589 #6 August 15, 2003 I work for a government contractor -- you hear about "government waste?" Well, that means that while we could surf the net, we can't do it on company time, and yes, people do get fired for non-porn surfing. But you have to do it a lot, and go through warnings, etc. Surfing porn can get you canned the first time. pilotdave 0 #10 August 15, 2003 QuoteWe account for our time in tenths of hours; at the end of the day I figure out what I worked on, and assign it to the proper accounting codes. Oh that's a big nono. Gotta log your time throughout the day when you finish each task! At least thats what they tell us here. I had to take government labor charging training the other day. The whole thing seems so silly to me. We have a contract with the government. We charge our time based on our budget. But the government cant just charge us based on the budget, it has to be based on ACTUAL time worked. But it's not like I have any choice in how much time I charge. Luckily I only deal with a few charge numbers. One for my normal work, one for overhead (meetings unrelated to normal work, training, etc), and now i'm using a third for a mandatory continuous improvement test i'm taking. They have a pretty good internet policy here. We are allowed to use the company network and email for "occasional personal use." They don't specifically define that, but we're told that it means sending an email to a family member when we really have to, etc. But its a gray area, Dave
