where or what is Caledonia?

Here buddy

Ahh...French colony...

Quote

Settled by both Britain and France during the first half of the 19th century, the island was made a French possession in 1853. It served as a penal colony for four decades after 1864. Agitation for independence during the 1980s and early 1990s seems to have dissipated.

So, does that mean the vibes have a criminal intent? :P
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

Thanks Tim. I really miss being out there. You're probably up to your B by now. Fly safe buddy.

NacMac, I accept your Caledonian vibes. Coming from you, I'm sure they are true healing vibes. I'll know more on Monday.

Chris

Sorry to hear this Muenkel!!!:(

I'm having the same problems you are (for a long, long time now). I jumped once in june to get current, and here i am again, i will not be current as of next week, since i decided to stop jumping until my ears cleared up. They still are not better, so i went to an allergist last thursday. He said *no* jumping until they clear. I decided to go on Tuesday so i would stay current. (against what the doctor said)
:S:S

I think after hearing about your problems, I will just wait until my ears and sinus get better, even though i will have to go through recurrency training!!!(maybe this woudn't be that bad anyways, safety and all)

Thanks for relating your problems, maybe it will help me!:)

Sorry to hear you're going through this also. Are you experiencing the vertigo? That's the toughest part of it.

With me, it's not just that my ears are clogged. They did clear but filled back up. This is why my doc is suspicious of a perforation which is allowing any sinus fluid to just dump into the ear canals.

Did your allergist rule out any tear or perforation in your case?

Get better soon and do not jump until you are completely well. If you pop an eardrum, I hear it is excrutiatingly painful, and you don't want to deal with that during freefall.

I was really lucky, because my doc did clear me to jump last Monday. Fortunately, I have realized the problem was not solved before this weekend. I really could have done some serious damage.

Stay safe and be well,
Chris

If you have any congestion in your head and a decongestant does not eliminate it

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

don't jump while on decongestants, either. sleepy time + jumpy time = not good.

Hey, thanks for catching that Brian. Very important. I was referring to the non-drowsy decongestants such as pseudoephedrine. I didn't think of the ones with the antihistamines.

No one should ever jump if they have taken an antihistamine.

Chris

Good to have a medical guy around.:)

Chris! Get yourself in working order! That's an order!

This seriously sucks. I'm sending HUGS and VIBES right now!

((((((O)))))) \\\\\\\///////

Have you looked into any alternative treatments, like reflexology? Or an Eastern therapy like acupuncture?

Thanks Tina,

I am being treated by a chiropractor who specializes in cranial work. It is her suspicion that there is a tear which would require conventional medical help. That's why she will decide on Monday if I should be referred to an Ear, Nose, Throat doctor. She first wants to see if the adjustments she made on Friday would give me relief. Unfortunately, it has only gotten worse since Friday. I believe it is time for a medical opinion. If there is a tear, reflexology or acupuncture would not be beneficial.

If the medical doctor finds no tear, then those may be good options.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Chris

If you get no joy from the next physician you see, I would perhaps try talking to a specialist or GP even who has some knowledge of hyperbaric medicine.
AKA 'A Diving Dr'.
I have all kinds of allergies and sinusitis like yourself. I have been SCUBA diving on and off for like 10 years so my eustachian tube is probably wider than your average land lover so I think this helps me.
Simple over the counter drugs such as pseudoephedrine (check with the doc as it raises your heart rate a little, but wont make you drowsy) can make it easier to equalize.
I could go on and on but I won't bore you with my medical history.

Yes, I have been experiencing vertigo sometimes. Its been kind of weird, for no reason at all, sometimes when i make quick moves/turns when i'm walking or getting out of a chair, or if i raise my head i experience vertigo. yes, this does suck!!

My allergist didn't mention anything about a tear or perforation. I'm going back to the doctors this week, and i will ask about that.!!!
One doctor did clear me to jump, but the allergist said without a doubt, do not!!! I think I will listen to the allergist because of what you wrote!! So thank you for explaining your problems in this thread. You might have saved me from really screwing up, since I was going to jump this week, just to stay current. I guess staying current isn't as important as my ears/sinus.

This really sucksB|, since I only have 3 weeks left on a 10 week vacation. I was hoping to lots of experience this summer, since i got my A license last February!!:S:S I had actually put away enough money for over 250 jumps. Oh well, i guess i will just put that money into the stock market!!

Please keep us/me informed on how you progress, since I am really interested in this, obviously!!lol
Good luck for your ear problems also, and get that A license!!

Well then, my fingers are crossed that the doc has good news for you, in whatever form that may be.

Oh, and I'm LMAO... 'Can you hear me now?'

Vanillaskygirl, its funny you should mention the coco
leaves!!;)

My parents were in Peru a few years ago, and they were climbing up that huge mountain side, and the guides gave everybody coco leaves to chew on. Whats funny about that is, my parents are the most conservative people in the world so now we tease them about being *drug users*!!! Well, its funny to my sisters and i anyways!!!;) Chow!
