Tonto 1 #13 August 14, 2003 OK. The secret is out. To cope with the increasing demand for tandems, some DZ's have started to train goats as Tandem Masters.(TMG's) By getting the student to ride a bicycle, we can closely duplicate the relative wind/kicking student situation. This is not for the benefit of the TMG, who is highly trained, but more to convince the passenger that all will be well after exit as some are still sceptical. We have a long and bitter history of pregidice in Africa, and the TMG's have an uphill struggle to proove their worth in the skydiving community. t Oh. Still here? Just kidding. The goat's hooves are tied together, and they are not trained as TM's. How you going to deploy a drouge with a hoof? tIt's the year of the Pig.

rehmwa 2 #17 August 14, 2003 You have a pretty low threshold on your definition of 'animal cruelty'. Good luck with that. Mmmmmm Goat ... alanab 0 #18 August 14, 2003 slaughter is not cruel??
Brains 2 #19 August 14, 2003 Quoteslaughter is not cruel?? No. Contrary to what most believe, animals are not led into a gate and smashed with a hammer. If the animals are stressed before slaughter, the meat takes on a darker than normal color, called dark cutter. It is less desireable and therefore avoided at all costs. Most animals never know what happened. I'm guessing you are a vegetarian?? Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.

Brains 2 #22 August 14, 2003 Quotenot a vegetarian here, i just hate the thought of killing animals, at any cost. . . No problem, it's not for everyone. meatmissile 0 #23 August 14, 2003 Quotei hate animal cruelty. this sucks Agreed. If you read my original post carefully, you will see that I said "I feel sorry for the goat" However, humane slaughter is a necessity of life. I feel physically sick if I have not had meat for a few days. Humans are omnivores, and thus have a right (like any other animal has) to eat meat. That said, there should be no unecessary suffering inflicted on an animal - ever, for any reason. The disagreement is usually around the definition of "necessary". -- ZZZzzzz.... rehmwa 2 #25 August 14, 2003 The goat is not slaughtered in this pic. Just riding on the bike. I thought you were saying it's cruelty to tie the goat to the man and transport by biking. That's the low 'threshhold' I'm speaking to. We weren't on the same page. As far as slaughtering food. Slaughter is either cruel or not depending on how it's done. I don't know if, or how, the guy in the pic dresses out his livestock so I can't speak to it. As far as we know, that goat might be his dinner that night or his cherished pet. ...
