Sleep Barking

Recommended Posts

So I'm sitting here doing a little surfing and all of a sudden I hear this muffled "rff rff rff rff" coming from the corner. I look over and our dog is sleep barking. Never seen that one before.

Anyone had animals that sleep bark/walk?

My little pitbull puppy sleep barks and runs. He'll be laying on his side and his legs start kicking and he makes little muffled barks. Probably dreaming about chasing my girlfriend's husky around (his best non-human buddy).

Hell! I thought ALL dogs DID do that!
1 Beagle and 1 Corgi both sleeping at dreaming that they are chasing crap in 2 different directions (.....of coures)

My dog has always done that... but she really freaked me out last week, when she started sleep barking, so I poked her... then she started doing some massive sleep snarling :o. I guess she was having a nightmare or something

My dogs have all done it from time to time. I think it's pretty cute, actually.

reminds me of a weiner dog haiku:

My little one does this all the time. The best is when she is growling and running..suddenly stops..then she starts "Eating" whatever it was she caught in her dream!B|

I experience this occasionally. Particuarly on late nights during weekends. Funny thing though, I don't have a dog :S.

Yes, I know it is snowing.
No, we are not putting the top up.

Our Labs have all done that. Once in a while my big Yellow will cut loose a full blown, high volume, window rattling bark out of a sound sleep - waking himself, and half the county. :|
