happythoughts 0 #52 August 20, 2003 Quotein five years the old cars will be fuel efficient too. My roommate drives an '82 Cadillac. In 5 years, it will still drink gas. He paid $500 for it. Not because he loves old cars, but because they moved his job to India and he couldn't find a new one. The tranny on his old car broke and he didn't have $1500 to fix it. He found a job 25 miles away, but didn't have a dependable car to get there, so he had to turn it down. A lot of people in his shoes. If you talk to people at temporary work places, the deciding factor on working some days is having a car to get there and that car is not new.
wmw999 2,557 #53 August 20, 2003 Man oh man oh man -- that's a lotta cars! If you know someone early in the line, can you just give them a can to fill up? Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. fasterfaller 0 #54 August 20, 2003 I just got ripped . Someone sucked my tank of my truck dry while I was eating dinner . They ripped my locking gas cap off and did some major damage to that area . Also used a prybar to pry the chain and the two five gallon spares from the bed doing more damage . So I went to the auto parts store and bought 5-5 gallon cans . I then went to Safeway and bought 10 quarts of karo light syrup , 2 quarts per can will do the trick . I am going to the fueling station to fix the traps . Gas theifs beware I am going to leave a 5 in the bed at all times and I don't feel sorry for the person that feels the need to steal .

Another friend is going with me and he will drive the other truck so we can video the bastards when their car dies . I can't wait to se the expression on their faces

If gas prices stay expensive, then this year a lot of people will buy hybrids, and in 5 years you'll be able to get a 2002 Prius with 150,000 miles on it for $500.
