BobB 0 #1 August 17, 2003 Remember this which I was SO happy to have? It was three days old this weekend and I was wearing it at the DZ. I had it tucked inside my shirt and my jumpsuit (still around my neck). Two jumps later, I felt for it and it was gone. I guess the sky took it from me. I'm ordering a new one tonight, and I WON'T be jumping with it when it get's here. Can't say I wasn't warned though. From Dropzone Jewelry's website, QuoteWe do NOT recommend you wearing our jewelry while skydiving. Please leave it on the ground to avoid possible injury! Yes, I know it is snowing. No, we are not putting the top up.
skydiverbrian 0 #2 August 17, 2003 I've lost quite a few necklaces to the sky. Others to the pool, others just disappeared into the unknown. I have yet to find a jewelry maker whose stuff will stay on for longer than a few months. In a world full of people, only some want to fly... isn't that crazy! --Seal
BobB 0 #3 August 17, 2003 QuoteI have yet to find a jewelry maker whose stuff will stay on for longer than a few months. I have complete faith in Pammi & Merrick. The necklace they sent me was AWESOME. I buy from them because they are HIGHLY recommended (for good reason, in my experience). Just wanted to post to make it doubly clear that it was TOTALLY my fault for my lost necklace. I don't blame anyone else (certainly not Pammi & Merrick). I won't be skydiving with my new one when it get's here. Bob Yes, I know it is snowing. No, we are not putting the top up.

Brian, they call what you are looking for a tatoo I have several and have not lost one yet! They are freefly friendly, cant snag on anything, and they never need to be replaced. Maybe a color touch up once in a while though

Pammi 0 #17 August 21, 2003 QuotePammi -- Can you make me a necklace that I won't have to take off every time I shower, jump in the pool, or skydive? I never take mine off, actually, but it depends which kind you get as well. (BTW...we definately don't recommend them being worn while skydiving just for safety reasons.) The rubber ones are made to really hold up and not get nasty...they can be dunked, washed or whatever you can put them through. Bob, I'm sorry to hear that your necklace came off! Get with me about this so we can work something out..I didn't realize that's what'd happened when you ordered the other one! I've only had one other do that that I'm aware of. Usually it has to do with the clasp. If it was a hemp one, the hemp holding on the clasp will eventually wear out, naturally. With the rubber, they are crazy glued on and then the spring squeezed into the rubber cord to double-hold it on. Perhaps the clasp itself broke? I want them to be able to break, but not easily. If they didn't break at all, though, that would be a danger if you got it snagged on something. I wouldn't want someone to be hung by their necklace, or strangled. I've had pins come off before. If someone sends it back to me, I'll put another on for free because we've tried several ways of attaching them, but there's still the occassional one that comes off, though I haven't heard of any recently. The hemp ones don't last as long as the rubber because it's a natural material. It's like your t-shirt. How often can you swim, wash, and otherwise torture before it just stops looking as good? I've noticed that sometimes if you have silver beads along with the glass ones we mostly use, they will tend to get rusty looking after a while if they get wet a lot. That's not too bad a thing if you're wearing them on a hemp because the hemp will take about that long to wear out as well if it's getting worn that much. It's really time for a different necklace by that point. But if you're getting a rubber one that can last for a long time, it might be worth paying extra to have me order sterling silver clasps and silver beads that will hold up just as long. Sterling is more expensive, or gold, but worth it if you want it to last. The difference between Walmart earrings and real silver ones. I, personally, just get tired of my rubber ones long before they wear out and want something different. I'll post it on the site because I hadn't had time yet with building another site for someone else, but I will also take $3 bucks off if you're necklace is worn out and you want to send the pin back for me to put on another necklace. I hope that answers some questions :) Feel free to email us if you have any others! Pammi
