Greg 0 #1 March 20, 2001 This is going to be cool to see!! I hear it is supposed to "splash" somewhere off the coast of Australia. I would love to watch that in freefall!! It would be like a picture I saw somewhere with the skydiver in freefall with the space shuttle launching in the background.
skreamer 1 #2 March 20, 2001 Wouldn't it be even cooler if it actually HIT Australia? /s[drop till you party!]
Iflyme 0 #3 March 20, 2001 I'm cornering off a spot in the parking lot here at work with some of those red highway cones in case it comes down here! Wouldn't want it to bonk anyone on the head...
Greg 0 #4 March 20, 2001 Not sure about hitting Austrailia, probably wouldnt hurt much especially if it hits inland. Maybe scare a few kangaroos or something. It would probably never hit the ground, I bet that Steve Erwin (i think thats his name), the crocodile dude, can probably just jump up and catch it, roll around and wrassle in the dirt with it for a bit and then throw it in the ocean with a "little rippa" exclamation. BarrettJ99 0 #6 March 21, 2001 Did you guys hear about the Taco Bell promotion?Just saw it on the News tonight. Apparently, Taco Bell has anchored a large target where the Mir is supposed to land. Story is that if it hits the target, everyone in the US is going to get a free taco. Strange... Someone must have been extremely bored with this one. I'd hate to be the guy who came up with the idea if it actually hits the target and they have to pay up. Could get pretty expensive...Blue skies-T1

Could get pretty expensive...[/qoute]Actually, I read that they took out insurance to cover the cost on the off chance that it does hit. It seems borderline impossible to me, but then again I never would've thought a first time jumper would've managed to hit the hangar dead on...Dan
Albatross 0 #8 March 21, 2001 I just heard that the target is only like 40 ft sq. and is in the South China Sea. That mean that it is way off the path that Mir is supposed to take down. I think that some one should just shoot a hole in it and say that it was space junk. I mean even if something from space does hit it won't they just say that it isn't Mir.Blue Skys and Safe LandingsAlbatross
Doasfu 0 #9 March 21, 2001 Also, I think they said they will only give out the free tacos if the target is hit by the core of the station. It's not going to happen.Fortunately for me, I don't like tacos.Dan
Hellian 0 #10 March 21, 2001 The picture with the shuttle mentioned earlier, is pretty kool. As it would be someone skydiving next to it! Ed

Guest #15 August 21, 2003 I saw that Russian booster come in during the pre-dawn hours, and I'm here to tell you that the best show is at night! It should be spectacular, since Mir is so huge and has big hunks of thick metal."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
