AggieDave 6 #1 August 21, 2003 I'm stuck infront of my computer again today, working on some web design for a company in College Station. Anyways, I was getting bored with my usual playlists, so I went digging in my large MP3 collection for something different. I found a lost musical love: 70's electronica jazz. I've got Herbie Hancock's "Head Hunters" album spinning right now (well, spinning as in playing in Winamp). Oh yeah, Herbie and his Mini-Mog, laying down the jazzy funk. Chameleon rock'n out for 15 minutes, a long beer bottle solo...oh this album rocks! I think some Chick Corea is due for next. I know this post has no use, I just thought I should share. I doubt I'm the only one that knows that I'm talking about here, but I seriously doubt there's many jumpers around that know what I'm talking about.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AggieDave 6 #3 August 21, 2003 Fire up your favorite P2P, search for Herbie Hancock for the artist and Chameleon for the song, that'll give you a quick intro into what I'm talking about.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Snowflake 0 #10 August 21, 2003 QuoteYou want funk...get some George Clinton. Anyone that writes a song called "The Promentalshitbackwashpsychosis Enema Squad" just gots ta be funky....and I quote "The world is a toll free toilet. our mouths neurological assholes and psychologically speaking were in a state of mental diarea...." Just don't forget Parliment/Funkadelic was made up of some of some bad ass musicians that can tear the roof off on their own. Like Bootsy Collins, Bernie Worrel, Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley, and the late Eddie Hazel. The stuff they do with Bill Laswell (Axiom Funk) is smokin.....actually Bill's funky pseudo(sp) dub is pretty kick ass too.
AggieDave 6 #11 August 21, 2003 Oh damn, how did I leave these guys out? The Brecker Brothers, bumped across their stuff in my collection, had to add... Skunk Funk! kick ass. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

I went to see PFunk in New Orleans in my second year of college, we were too broke for the tickets so we were just going to stand outside and listen. The band's bus was right there and george and the boys were inside, with the door open. I asked them if they'd get us in if I smoked them out and offered my puny lil joint. I was so naive. They looked, laughed, got us high, and got us in. WOOHOO! I luuuuurve them.

AggieDave 6 #18 August 21, 2003 Ahhh, yes, Weather Report, great group! Although I don't really like how they play Birdland...the MF version is a lot better.
