TheAnvil 0 #1 August 27, 2003 I was watching Bill while working out tonight and I turned his ass off. Once again, he ticked me off. Not that I won't watch him again, but he irked me severely this evening. I've met a lot of NASA folks. Worked with a few NASA folks and astronauts too. They are the nicest, most intelligent, most safety conscious and most professional group of people you could ever HOPE to work with. They ALL should be skydivers. Anyone who has EVER worked on anything manned and knows the QA and procedures that go into engineering every last detail/part of those missions knows this to be true. Bill O was out on a witch-hunt tonight and was out to blame Clintonista appointees within NASA for mistakes made in the shuttle program. At least that's the gist I was getting. Granted, I'm a Libertarian (a hypocritical one in some cases) and lean towards the right - FAR towards the right in most cases - and don't really like most people Clinton appointed. However, Bill made no valid point that I could see on this issue. To pre-empt the myriad of lefties sure to take glee in this negative post on someone whom I've defended in the past, this doesn't mean I disavow (or totally agree with) anything Bill O has ever said. It means he's pissed me off and disgusted me right now. Using this horrid incident for political pandering is low class and disgusting. I put that right down with driving a girl off of a bridge and taking hours to notify the cops, cheating on one's wife/hubby, or selling classified info to the Chinese. And I'm not real likely to be discussing it in detail on dropzone.com. Thing is that what I've heard of and by Bill O'Reilly is that he uses material in this way a lot of the time, and relies on the ignorance of his audience to accept his analysis. So you are disgusted because you have first hand knowledge about what O'Reilly was talking about. You think he misrepresented facts and used it for political purposes (smash Clinton/Democrats) - but you say you still support him (and probably Fox News as such). What about the stories you don't have first hand knowledge about - are you sure this is totally out of character? You don't see a pattern here? It'll have to wait, as I'm engrossed in some filtering work right now. Some of the people deriding NASA engineers are folks who couldn't do a Laplace transform to save their lives. Disgusting. Reading several different papers with great frequency, keeping abreast of most current events, and being a quite inquisitive and investigative fellow when I desire, I usually have quite a firm grasp on the issues O'Reilly or any other commentator speaks - those that interest me anyway. Don't tell me you're going to start that FoxNews-bashing again. To reiterate once more: TELLING THOSE OF US WHO HEAR/SEE FOX COMMENTATORS BASH REPUBLICANS ON OCCASION THAT FOXNEWS IS A TOTALLY BIASED RIGHT-WING NEWS OUTLET IS A FUTILE ATTEMPT AT IMPRESSING YOUR MISGUIDED OPINIONS ONTO OTHERS. WE'VE WATCHED THE STUFF. WE KNOW THAT YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. It's like trying to convince me I'm a racist because I don't support affirmative action - you have no chance of doing so. As a matter of fact/humor, I can make a STRONG argument ala BillVon that Fox actually leans left. All I have to do is ignore right leaning quotes and present the many left leaning ones I've heard from the network (not just from commentators; Shep Smith too). I might start a new thread just on that topic sometime in the near future for humorous purposes. Or design an AnvilTV News agenda to demonstrate the news from a completely biased libertarian agenda.
