pack40 0 #1 March 31, 2003 I'd like to design my own jumpsuit, so does anybody has a "dress pattern" what I can edit? OVER
mccordia 74 #2 March 31, 2003 Most sites that sell suites have nice b/w cards where you can specify colors. Just open of of those images in paint/photoshop (or notepad if your a die-hard:) and use the paint bucket to fill the area's in your colors of choice to see how it looks...JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? pack40 0 #3 March 31, 2003 I've tried that but, I have a colleague and she is a dressmaker by her original profession so she could do it for me. I can buy all the required materials, but she needs exact patterns so the simple sketch images of jumpsuits are not enough for her. OVER
mccordia 74 #4 March 31, 2003 Paterns are quite hard to come by. Your best bett would probably be to borrow a good suit from someone and use that as an example for her to make a patern..JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
Snowbird 0 #5 April 1, 2003 I made my own, and had to 'examine' a few jumpsuits and make my own pattern. A bit of a pain, but my jumpsuits cost me $30 each. Now I'm refining it with a few of my own changes and trying to add booties. I never found an actual pattern. Good luck. If you find a pattern, send me the link, 'kay? Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein

wmw999 2,577 #7 April 1, 2003 Better yet, that's probably $30 Canadian... I've tried making a jumpsuit, and making major alterations in one to come up with something workable. It's a lot of work, and my hat's off to you, Snowbird. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
pack40 0 #8 April 1, 2003 I talked with a friend so I have two options I get the material And my colleague will do it for me. Or there is a guy making jumpsuits around 90USD but he lives like 300km away. So either way I'd like to design my own so that is why I need that pattern. I'd design an Elvis type one such as the Flying Elvi team has. I know white color is not the best choice but it looks cool. Anyways first I should learn basic freefall 'tactics" and stop my uncotrolled Style and Accuracy jumps as they are without style and accuracy. But, I like making plans before., so I do not have to decide in two days when I'll order the jumpsuit. OVER
Snowbird 0 #9 April 1, 2003 Yeah, $30 Canadian. The great thing is, now that I have the pattern, I can make a new jumpsuit whenever. Getting the pattern right took some doing, though. I made a 'dummy' suit to get the fit right and fix my screwups, then used that as the pattern for the final. Maybe when I get the pattern just right, I'll post it somewhere for other sew-people. The next challenge will be freefly pants... Anyone have a pattern for those? Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. I posted the pattern I use for Men's pants and when I find the pattern I use for women's I'll post that there also. All I do is make from the knee down wider and add 3-4 extra inches for the poofing effect. I did make a pair with velcro cuffs, but now I just use elastic since I'm lazy. I posted pics of my pants in that jumpsuit thread....as soon as TG sends me pics of hers I'll post her in her pants and Derek in his TandemMaster pants. DJL 235 #11 August 27, 2003 Hey folks on this thread. Any progress. I'm thinking about making my own suit too. Would be interested in hearing how it's going."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
kitof1976 0 #12 August 27, 2003 That's a really good idea... I made my own freefly pants! It's really not as hard as it looks. I drew my own pattern and got to make pants just the way I wanted them. I have attached a pics of the finished pants... I think it's too bad for 20 bucks of material and a few hours of work... The cool thing is that once you have the pattern, it's a breeze to make more suits/pants for cheap! "We see the world just the way we are...
DJL 235 #13 August 27, 2003 Those are pretty sweet pants. Once I get ahold of a sewing machine and learn about stitches I'll have to come talk to you. My first job is to do some work on my makeshift freefly pants. Then it's on to something more interesting. peace"I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

smiles 0 #15 August 27, 2003 QuoteYeah, $30 Canadian .. I flew my 1st. suit until worn out, patched knees, arms...then used it for making my own pattern. By the time you purchase material, thread and good quality zipper it is hard to believe you got all that for $30.00 !! Prices sure have shot up high for suits...think Debbie's are $300.
