iam 0 #1 August 27, 2003 I think i'm having a mid-life crisis, and i was wondering how many people have actually went through this? I have been reasonably successful in my chosen career and currently enjoy a good salary - enough to let me jump each weekend and go on holiday 4 times this year, but i'm at a stage in my life where it bores the tits of me For the last 6mths I have been thinking about packing it all in, selling my house and just travelling from DZ to DZ around the world. Especially DZ's in New Zealand, California and Florida. I have been to Elsinore a few times and could easily adjust to that way of life If I could get myself a few ratings along the way all the better. OK, so who has done this, what was there experiance, did it help kill the nagging pain in the pit of your stomache (you'll know what I mean if you have ever felt it). Is being 39 years old to old? I would greatly appreciate all opinions and advice. Spike 0 #3 August 27, 2003 Hey Ian, Year 2000, same affluence, same crisis... I did sell up, pack it all in and went travelling round Australia for a year. The best time of my life ever, EVER. 2.5 years later, I'm back here in the UK, back in regular life, easier job than before I left, better pay, fantastic benefits, and yet all I can think about is how happy I was when every minute was mine to do just as I wanted. If I thought life was bad before my year out... As they say, be careful what you ask for, you just may well get it. Having had it, and liked it, I'm trying to figure out how to earn a (good) living from doing nothing! Break it down, what's getting to you? The job, the climate, people, being in a rut? Boringstoke... me too, we should meet for a beer, PM me. I'm sure I could persuade a gorgeous local young skychick to come along too and dispense some optimism. airtwardo 7 #4 August 27, 2003 You're only on this rock once... Do what makes YOU happy... (just don't hurt anyone) I chucked it all in my late 20's for a while.... Took some time to figure out it wasn't the job, friends, relationships, that was making me feel unsatisfied... . It was me, and the 'fix' was actually pretty easy... good luck! ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~

TomAiello 26 #6 August 27, 2003 I did that about a year and a half ago. I've been wandering around jumping since then. It's been a good time, but I'm just about ready to get back to the "real" world. I think it's time to sit down and think real hard about making money, so that I can make my second cut-away last a life time. My advice would be to get all the cash lined up so that you can cut-away for ever. Then do it. I know several people who have been full time jumpers for a year or more. By and large, they all move on to something else eventually. There is, I think, more to life than jumping. But as long as you've got your ducks in a row, it shouldn't be too hard to bail on everything else and go jumping for a while, then move on once it's starting to get old.
